Time limit on watchers

I think there should be a limit on how long a person can watch an item.  I am thinking one week.  If they go over one week, Ebay should knock them off of the watched too long item.

Why?  just because you don't like them watching?  Shouldn't matter to you at all.......  Many watch, some but may buy in the future.......2 wks/2 months........so what?

@pattik330 ,

Huh? What purpose would that serve?

Watchers and views basically tell a seller their items are being seen and interest generated. But they are not necessarily an indication of imminent sales. From that perspective, it would not matter how long a duration a watcher has. Watchers take nothing away from the seller and do add some potential for a future subsequent sale.

@pattik330 ,

Maybe you need to send the watchers an offer of 50% off to see how many will buy? If that doesn’t work repeat with a bigger discount. Eventually as more watchers buy the number of watchers will drop. Problem solved.

Some of the items in my watch list have been there for more than 6 years.

Guess I must really annoy sellers such as yourself.

By that logic, if a listing has had watchers for a week and no sale, eBay should just remove the listing.

No.  I sell multiples of items across YEARS with the same listing.

Maybe someone watches it because they want to return to buy another in the future, and that's their 'bookmark' so they can easily come back?

Maybe it's another seller thinking of selling the same thing?  Watches an item to see how much it sells for? or how fast I go through my stock?

Either way, I almost never actually even look to see how many watcher an item has.

I definitely do NOT want watchers to be 'kicked off' my listings.  Ever.

Could you provide even one single reason why your proposal is a good idea?

Sounds like a good idea but I have an improvement, if a listing doesn't sell or get at least one watcher in the first week eBay should remove the listing and that seller should never be allowed to list it again.

If your trying to sell it, why care?  The more watchers the more a buyer that wants it will feel pressure to buy first.

I think that's because you think they are competitors, and the idea is annoying you; I do that all the time in order to be competitive with other sellers of same items whether on eBay or other sites.

Are you saying you don't have any items on your watch list older than a week? If not, maybe you should if you want to stay competitive.
