Time for eBay to lift their banning of selling fabric face masks

It's time for eBay to lift their banning and canceling auctions for handmade fabric face masks.

The President of the United States even said they are recommending Americans wear fabric face masks and still continue the social distancing guidelines.

Wake up eBay, they may not be a perfect solution, but they can't hurt.  People are getting very sick and even dying.  Time to reverse your stance on this.

As far as price gouging, that's up to the buyer on what he/she wants to pay.  No one is making them spend more than they want.

this has not been resolved. I am still being block saying price gauging and my listing says cloth mask and no reference to virus. i followed instructions accurately. i'm sick of ebay and amazon preventing sales and buying of a product that is now mandatory for all of us to wear in public. my product is high quality, inexpensive, 5GBP per mask and its re-usable, one lasts at least a year or longer.  there is no price gauging.  Ebay is causing price gauging by limiting the number of sellers allowed to sell.  such hypocrisy and stupidity. if you limit sales, then the only sellers allowed to sell, then supply is low, demand is high, hello---this leads to price gauging.

Nor as the pandemic.

Right?! India is like the wasteland of the world. And China, where most very cheap items of all kinds, is the where the virus originated. Some people just don't think/reason well.

Re: Time for eBay to lift their banning of selling fabric face masks

No words to express the frustration.  Ebay is violating "peoples right"

They only let them sale "authorized sellers"  that is not true.  This is a real violation of all rights. Ebay does because of the power. Someone needs to do something. We pay high fees, invest our money clean. Some times we need to loose money because of the price gouging promoted by ebay not by the seller. We the people have loose our rights. I have worked hard in the right way using ebay for the last 10 years. Outstanding perfomance, transparency and still dont let me sell mask ?

What "right" is Ebay violating for you?  This isn't our site, it is owned by Ebay.  It is Ebay's site and Ebay's rules for their site.  I don't understand how you feel they are violating your rights.  You don't have the right to sell anything on Ebay unless Ebay gives that right to you.  Again, their site, not ours.

It is no different than if you started selling on some other site and they didn't allow certain things from you to be listed.  You don't go into any of this with some right to post anything you desire on someone else's site.

Banning of these merchandise only prevents distribution of necessities.

The issue is so much more complex than that.

Re: Time for eBay to lift their banning of selling fabric face masks

I am also very frustrated at this point.  I list by what ebay says "tending" and what sold in the last 90days to decide my prices.  Still get in trouble for selling something.   Also Glass cleaner is an "essential" item.  Never thought of glass cleaner as such.  I was just told the listings that I see on now the sellers  are allowed to sell these items because they were selling them before the pandemic.   I personally think it has gone on long enough and needs to be updated.

It is the times we are currently in.  We need to respect that instead of fighting it.  Ebay will announce when they are going to reverse the March directive by them.  Move on, there are other things to sell successfully on the site.

FYI, there are antibacterial glass cleaners.  I use with Windex version all the time for suitable surfaces.

Re: Time for eBay to lift their banning of selling fabric face masks

This thread is over 6 months old.

As others have pointed out, it's eBay's site.  If eBay wants to ban the listing of white shirts, green cars and/or little red wagons, it's their right to do so.

Plus there IS the fact that, sometime since this thread started, eBay has relaxed the ban on home-made face masks.

Re: Time for eBay to lift their banning of selling fabric face masks

They need to lift the ban on all the products like toilet paper,  disinfectanct spray, wipes etc because it's all available in every store I go into. This is just crazy. People want to buy these items and there is plenty to choose from if you don't like the price of what a seller is charging. There is NO MORE shortages on these items.

As long as sellers keep trying to sell them, or giving as a free gift, they won't lift the ban.

Have a great day.

I know it is hard to believe but some parts of the US still are having trouble keeping a stock of these types of items.  I agree it is crazy.  But you are incorrect about the shortages.  Even in areas you wouldn't expect.  I live about 60 miles south of Seattle Washington.  In a decent size little town yet it is still an issue here.  I can go into our local stores, chain stores like Safeway and Walmart, and still there are empty shelves of where these kinds of things are normally stocked.

I saw wipes for the first time since about April of last year about 2 or 3 weeks ago.  Not a lot of them but some.  That certainly is an improvement.

We just sometimes forget when things get closer to normal in our little area of the world that it may not be true for others.

Re: Time for eBay to lift their banning of selling fabric face masks

You're right about that. Sometimes people do forget. I have friends and family scattered from up north to Florida areas. Not where you are at though. So far in PA, MD, VA, NC, SC ,GA and Florida they are doing good on finding the items. Not sure about other areas. Ebay CS told me they do allow many to sell these items on  here but they had to be approved ones only and that eventually they will lift the ban.

Re: Time for eBay to lift their banning of selling fabric face masks

That is where you are wrong. Ebay CS rep told me that they do allow many to sell these items on here that are approved and ones who sold certain items like I have before this ban like the Lysol products. I can continue to sell that because I sold it previously. The ban will be lifted before long because they are keeping watch on what areas are no longer having problems with the items in stores. So If I choose to offer a free item with my products I can do that. Thank you and have a great day!
