It's time for eBay to lift their banning and canceling auctions for handmade fabric face masks.
The President of the United States even said they are recommending Americans wear fabric face masks and still continue the social distancing guidelines.
Wake up eBay, they may not be a perfect solution, but they can't hurt. People are getting very sick and even dying. Time to reverse your stance on this.
As far as price gouging, that's up to the buyer on what he/she wants to pay. No one is making them spend more than they want.

Hello Brian,
Thank you, your suggestion worked. I removed "layers" and the reference line in the description as requested. I was able to update the item accordingly. Can you please explain to me why the "layers" is a problem? It should not be, I'm not making any claim and simply describing the product.

What about the hand sanitizer that I've been banned from selling, despite the fact that I am a manufacturer, not a hoarder and not retailer?
We invested our life savings in equipment to manufacture hand sanitizer. We did so at the explicit request of the government only to face E-bay's unmitigated incompetence in interpreting those laws. The Federal ban was to stop re-sale of products bought in supermarkets; not to prevent the supply of hand sanitizer manufactured under the TGA exceptional circumstance guidelines.
We have lost everything, and are now destitute owing to your company's unmitigated incompetence.

The ban Ebay implemented had nothing to do with whether or not a seller was a manufacturer, hoarder or retailer. It was simply that Ebay made the decision that in the best interest of everyone, they would ban these items in an effort to prevent price gouging during a time of national emergency.
This ban has been in place since March 5th. If the "government" asked you to manufacture hand sanitizer, one would hope you would have done some research on where you'd be able to sell it. Certainly the "government" didn't ask you to manufacture the stuff with your only selling outlet to be Ebay!
There was no "federal ban" on hand sanitizer. There were federal and state laws against price gouging the moment a state of emergency was declared.
I don't understand why your only outlet to sell the items you make is Ebay. There have been many stores across the US and world I would suspect, that you could have sold to. Why are you concentrating on just Ebay, where you can't sell it right now?

"The ban Ebay implemented had nothing to do with whether or not a seller was a manufacturer, hoarder or retailer."
Yes it is and yes it does. It was SPECIFICALLY in response to laws passed in California, and I have since discovered the same is true in my own region. In both cases the laws are SPECIFICALLY relating EXCLUSIVELY to RESALE OF ITEMS BOUGHT IN SUPERMARKETS. It is SPECIFICALLY those laws that explain why EVERY online retailer has enacted the same policy.
"It was simply that Ebay made the decision that in the best interest of everyone, they would ban these items in an effort to prevent price gouging during a time of national emergency."
Banning access to a critical health item in the middle of a national health emergency, and your actually defending that logic. You absolute **bleep** gronk!
"There was no "federal ban" on hand sanitizer."
Yet Ebay felt completely fine enforcing non-law on the entire world, and your seriously defending that concept.
"There were federal and state laws against price gouging the moment a state of emergency was declared."
So exactly the opposite of what you said in the previous sentence. Yet instead of setting a price cap, they explicitly banned critical items, in a health emergency!

Not exactly. Certainly states [not just California] started declaring States of Emergency, that is absolutely part of it. Because when a state declares a state of emergency then the price gouging laws go into effect. And when the federal government declares a national state of emergency then the federal laws kick in too.
It is important to keep in mind that just because Ebay has their main offices in California that does NOT mean that is the only state laws they have to contend with.
The price gouging laws vary by state. Ebay in response to the pandemic and the shortage for some critical supplies across the nation decided to handle it they way they did on March 5th. Their site, their prerogative.
I get it you don't agree with Ebay, often times some of us do disagree with how they handle this or that. I personally understand it. But that is only my opinion. I respect that you see it differently.
Ebay has NEVER said that there is a "federal ban on sanitizer". At least not that I'm aware of. That came from a poster, not Ebay.
Ebay owns this site, so yes, they have every right to set the rules as long as they comply with the laws of the land.
I think you just misunderstood what I previously posted. I hope you can find a market to sell directly to the stores that need the supplies you can create. That is likely to be some very good sales for you. I hope everything works out for you.

IN THE UNITED STATES!
A COUNTRY THAT I AM NOT IN! AMERICAN LAW IS BEING ENFORCED ON THE ENTIRE WORLD, AND YOU STILL CANT UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE SEE THE USA AS TOTALITARIAN?
"then the price gouging laws go into effect."
Do the aforementioned laws state that Ebay should ban the sale of critical supplies?
Or do they say that the price may not be excessive?
Because if its anything other than the first, all you have done is write a lengthy diatribe in an attempt to cause distraction. Also supporting precisely what I said in the first place. That Ebay is grossly incompetent at interpreting the laws. Applying policy only in terms of what is convenient for them, knowing **bleep** well they have done the most obscenely immoral thing that they could possibly do in said emergency.
"Ebay owns this site, so yes, they have every right to set the rules as long as they comply with the laws of the land."
Controlling the market in this way is extremely illegal, at both the state and federal level in most every country in the western world. It's called anti-trust. Using a Global pandemic as a smokescreen doesn't make that better... it makes it much much worse. Like I said in the first place, they banned the supply of critical medical supplies, when they could have gone to exponentially less effort and set a price cap.
I am thus very cynical about the notion they they 'care for the community'. Give me a break this was obviously done on a pay to play basis.

Ebay is NOT a government agency nor is it ran by the government. Ebay a company that owns this site. They have the right to set their rules as they see fit within the laws that govern us all in the US. If Ebay decides today that no one can sell dog collars on their site anymore, it wouldn't matter the reason behind it, they have the right to make that decision as they own the site.
If any of us don't like the rules Ebay sets forward, we are free to set up our own websites and run it any way we see fit.
I get it that you are upset by this. But as I've previously explained, this is not your only way of selling your products. You said you were asked to manufacture hand sanitizer. I'm confident whomever asked you to manufacture these supplies did not also say the only place you can sell them is on Ebay.
I have no idea when Ebay will lift the ban. But one day they will. Likely not until we know if we are out of the woods so to speak on this first round of the virus. But hopefully we will be very soon.

What's the update? I do see N95 listings as of today's search. Are they now allowed not not??

Great question. I too notice hand sanitizer, purell, N95 masks and surgical masks listed by the hundreds. Has the listing ban been released without notice?

@wisconsinnice and @702-550-1753
No they are still in place.

this has not been resolved. I am still being block saying price gauging and my listing says cloth mask and no reference to virus. i followed instructions accurately. i'm sick of ebay and amazon preventing sales and buying of a product that is now mandatory for all of us to wear in public. my product is high quality, inexpensive, 5GBP per mask and its re-usable, one lasts at least a year or longer. there is no price gauging. Ebay is causing price gauging by limiting the number of sellers allowed to sell. such hypocrisy and stupidity. if you limit sales, then the only sellers allowed to sell, then supply is low, demand is high, hello---this leads to price gauging.
