We are partners selling merchandise from (2) locations. One partner will be away for a (12) day period so if an item is sold shipping would be delayed until her return. Her location houses 1/3 of the inventory so we hate to put in a time away which would include the second location that houses 2/3 of the inventory. Is there any way to put a clarification on the time away message so buyers know which location will have delayed shipping? You can setup automatic messages when a buyer contacts you but not a message that will show on each listing that is viewed?
Any advice would be appreciated!

Why not set up separate shipping policies for each inventory location, so you could manipulate the handling time when location-specific delays occur?

Time away message would appear on all your listings (from both locations). What you can do is just change "handling time" for items located at her house. Not possible to "send message" to potential customers who view your items.
Also I wanted to point out there is a "tax liability" when allowing another person to sell on your account. IRS will send 1099K (gross income earned) to person whose social security# and name is shown on EBAY profile.

Since you each do your own shipping and inventory your own stuff that you sell, why don't you have separate accounts?
What benefit do you believe you are getting from combining your stuff?

I did "time away" for 2 weeks last October but kept open items for sale. For some strange reason I got great sales for those two weeks. I was on a cruise ship and just emailed each buyer I'm on a vacation and when I returned on such and such a date item will be mailed. A lot of buyers said thanks and enjoy your vacation. And when I returned the next two days my sales jumped pretty good as well. I think most buyers would move on and buy from someone else.
I just did a simple time away keeping open items for sale. Just an email to each buyer did the trick. Never got a bad response. And I made money while on a two week plus cruise.

I would just do time away on the account (all locations), leave listings up, and if something sells and you can ship it, ship it. If it sells from the other location, then the time away has notified your customer.

Not possible to 'change handling time' for 1 location vs. the other. This is ONE account and ALL ITEMS show they are shipping from ONE location; whatever that may be.
As suggested by others; this account needed to really be '2 accounts' if they wanted 'certain items' to ship out at 'different' times.
Period.

What stops a seller from having different handling times for different items, whether they’re in the same location or different locations? I’ve never had a problem doing that.

Totally agree just do time away on all and allow buyers to purchase. You can ship the ones you want from one location as Sin says and leave the rest till the end date on time away.

Sellers can have multiple handling times on active listing. There is no rule that prevents that.
Nor do all the listings have to ship from the same location. As long as the location is accurate, it is fine.

Put everything on Time Away and then-- this is the part that is important-- make the listings invisible.
Why tell potential customers that you have it but they can't buy it? They are just going to buy elsewhere if they need it immediately, and if they don't notice* that you won't be shipping for a couple of weeks, they will be very angry not to have it.
Some sales are not worth having.

If you have business policies, then create different shipping profiles with different handling times and assign them accordingly to what inventory can ship asap and what will have delayed shipment.
I’ve forgotten how it looks when you don’t have business policies. If some people are correct in saying you can only have one global handling time setting for non business policies, then I would just simply end the listings for the 1/3 of your inventory that you don’t have access to. Then relist them once the time is right and they can be shipped immediately again.
