This new GTC policy is the WORST thing eBay has ever done - what can we do?

Honestly, I am not entirely surprised that eBay did this. For months (years?), eBay has been sneakily forcing my listings into GTC format and adding Best Offer options after I submit my listings, without my consent. When I called and complained, they always acted like it was a glitch and "so sorry for the inconvenience" but I would have to change them all manually. Clearly they were lying through their teeth and that was just the precursor program to forcing this policy on all of us.

Now this **bleep**. The GTC nonsense removes all urgency from sales and will thus result in difficulty in sellers managing their listings, fewer sales for everyone, and more lowball offers. It seems like the only upside is for eBay: to be able to rip people off with mandatory relistings fees - for listings you never wanted or asked to be relisted.

So, just wondering if anyone has any advice on how to fight this policy, where to send our feedback, if there is already an ongoing petition somewhere, etc.

I spent all afternoon and night DELISTING items and not LISTING! I have blocks of 5-10 items ending all throughout the day and night. just got finished. And I will be doing the same tomorrow. No time anymore to list, just delisting. I will not pay an additional $67.00-$75.00 extra to have the last 9 days amount of items roll over my allotment of fixed price listings and end up paying MORE than I pay for a Premium store. I tested 2 listings and let them run over and change to GTC. 1st item 3 days ago still has not gotten a view since the change going on 4 days, and the other has only a single view above what it was at 48 hrs ago, so I am all set with using GTC!

I think that Ebay is forgetting that WE - the people who have stores, are their customers.  Not the buyers.  The buyers are OUR customers.  If Ebay makes a change that we (their customers) don't like then I think it is our DUTY to tell them that we don't like it, regardless of whether keeping up with listings is our responsibility or not.  If we are silent, then we will be steamrolled.

Unique ( 1 ) of a kind items you say ??? ( 1 ) painted or decorated differently than the next, yea ok. But I'm not seeing any Michaelaangelo's, Rembrandt's ,etc. in your lot and many items were mass produced and just decorated by either the same person or different people in a different style/look. Yes some can be quite valuable if you have the correct time period and painter ,etc . But I'm not seeing that in your inventory. You have some nice pieces as I am not downgrading your inventory. It's just not that unique to me ,maybe to you and others. And when you say ( 1 ) of a kind ??? How can you be so sure of that !! Of course you have all the necessary documentation to back that up correct ?? It's a ( 1 ) of a kind to you because you don't have another. Now ( 1 ) painter of a item will do different paintings on each produced piece. So in that regard it can be ( 1 ) of a kind, I guess. But there are many of those produced pieces out there. Your items are not old enough to be ( 1 ) of a kinds !! I mean old , as in really old !! Good Luck

Fight it by filling out the pop-up surveys,i repeatedly fill them out,ask them to not make GTC mandatory and give us the choice back. What gets me are the ones who act mad because we dont want to use the GTC policy? Why do they care so much if we don't want it forced on us? They are not in our shoes apparently? I should not have to make time in my busy schedule to have to end listings on the 29th day....

Re: This new GTC policy is the WORST thing eBay has ever done - what can we do?

that is a false equivalency if I ever heard one. When I sign up for a Netflix, I am signing up for a recurring charge, that’s the goal. There is no hidden fee there.

When I list items for sale on eBay, I’m listing them for FREE for a set amount of time. The only thing I want or agreed to is to list an item for free. Now eBay is going to forceful relist my items even after I run out of free listings and we have to literally calendar a “keep eBay from stealing from me” date. It’s absurd.

Some say one of a kind when they really mean they have one of the item.
