This has to be illegal....................................

A buyer recently opened a SNAD return for item "Wrong Item Sent."

The FIRST SENTENCE from the buyer in the message was "TECHNICALLY THIS WAS THE RIGHT ITEM SENT BUT DID NOT FIT."

Phoned eBay to report this and THEY SAY THEY CANNOT REMOVE THE DEFECT FROM MY SERVICE METRICS!

Even though the buyer CLEARLY ADMITTED IT!

How is this right? How is this LEGAL!?

Now I am at a 3.5% Return rate which is deemed as "VERY HIGH"

Now they are going to collect another 4% from me! Unbelievable!

I'd say about 85-90% of my "Returns" are from buyer error and the buyer selecting whichever reason they please!

eBay has MONOPOLIZED off buyers selecting whatever reason they please to open a return!

Even called in and WHEN A RETURN IS CLOSED IN YOUR FAVOR IT DOES NOT LEAVE THE SERVICE METRIC PERCENTAGE!

This is outright THEFT!

Your scenario might be a very good one to pose to the ebay blues in the weekly chat, starting at 4PM eastern time. There is a link to it in the thread pinned near the top of this board. It definitely is a conflict of interest.

Yes, Ebay did the same thing to me. Even if you can prove it a size issue, they do not care. That extra 4 % really ads up.

Re: This has to be illegal....................................

I will be sure to, they are profiting off of buyer error. When I call in they have the nerve to tell me to describe the item more accurately.

I've been in the auto industry for 15+ years, I know exactly what I am doing.

This has been going on for awhile. It's not fair at all.

I've mentioned many times, basing a metric that could lead to 4% FVF on CUSTOMER CLAIMS is completely wrong and unfair.

All they have to do is either let us appeal them, or based it on DECIDED CASES, and it would be 100% fair.

Re: This has to be illegal....................................

Yes it does, unfortunately for them it is only hurting them in the long run. They are looking at the short term image and I believe they do not understand the damage they are causing, I have since shifted what used to be my 100% focus on eBay to about 33% and begun listing on other venues and have been doing pretty decent. What they fail to understand is they are no longer the top dawg with online sales and the more they try to micromanage us and squeeze us for every cent we have the more motivated we are to post elsewhere and escape this nightmare they have created.

Its just disgusting that they are pulling this move.

Exactly, if I were to appeal them I would be down to under 1%.

They KNOW EXACTLY what it is they are doing.

Re: This has to be illegal....................................

We actually have in-house software that gives us visual verification of every item that's being packed. We don't go strictly by product codes.

We have two employees who have to visually verify, then click "Verify", before packing the item.

Because of this it is nearly impossible for us to make mistakes in the items we sent. It's not possible for us to do anything else to insure we are sending the correct item.

And we're in "High".

I know they say it's a "comparison to other sellers". Well I know for a fact other sellers don't have software like we do to verify. If we were being compared fairly to other sellers, we SHOULD be much lower than we are.

It would seem to be a conflict of interest. Does Ebay intentionally look for used car-salesmen to run their company? Why do they have to be so shady and disgusting all the time. Its getting ridiculous

Re: This has to be illegal....................................

I believe shoes are a great source of headaches for the seller. I have yet to find a different brand of shoe that has the same measurement than any other. Nike vs. Reebok for example.

But, again, this is Ebay, with their antipersonal mines that makes them rich out of the 4% you are punished with.

Re: This has to be illegal....................................

@bmp_auto_salvageI totally agree with @hioctane62 that this should be brought up on the Weekly chat (4PM EST) ... so the eBay Support Team can go "educate" their lacking reps on what the right thing to do is when one has a self-proclaimed lying Buyer ... that's about the size of it.  The Metric is SOOOOoooo very subjective its not even funny any more.

Re: This has to be illegal....................................

Sorry to hear, I would love to know who these sellers in the "low" are.

Its beyond aggravating when you know exactly what it is you are selling and the blame is placed upon you.

The entire change to how Ebay handles false SNAD claims was designed as another money grab by Ebay as they cannot justify an across the board increase in FVF when they have a platform so full of glitches and not enough traffic to support the listings on their site.  Although this is nothing more than out and out theft by Ebay, since they refuse to share who your peers are or any information for a seller to do an actual comparison against their so called peers, this was the only way they could come close to justifying a fee increase which they need desperately to try and show growth from a site that is actually shrinking.

Upper management can no longer figure out how to really grow the site so they come up with more and more fees that they can blame on the seller, or supposedly enhance the Sellers visibility on the site while not necessarily requiring that a sale be completed.  These types of changes will continue being implemented by Upper Management at Ebay until they either destroy their own site or they are  replaced by a Team of Executives who know what they are doing.
