The "Listing promotions Extended through July" announcement ...

While this represents a great opportunity and announcement the site has to do better at letting Sellers actually sell things that are in high demand at reasonable prices ... masks (handmade or manufactured), toilet paper, wipes, etc..

The extension is much appreciated, but I'd rather get an email saying the forced intake to MP in July has been put on hold pending the end of the crisis.

So what happens if you downgrade your store subscription say from a Premium to a basic? This would be a money saver for 3 months as my store subscription renews on May 1st.

Nothing happens - you just downgrade your store in the month that it's expiring and that's it.  I did it last month.

chapeau-noir,

Doesn't that depend on whether your store subscription is by month or by year?

It doesn't matter - as long as it's the month of expiration - I went from basic to starter in April, the month of expiration and although I had to finish out my basic contract to the end of April, my store goes to starter in May.

Also you can always increase store level at any time without any penalities - it's only downgrading that can cost.

ETA: Or you can do it the month before expiration.

OK, I do see the question says store subscription renews on May 1, so I think there would be no early termination fee is store owner times it right. Here's a page with details, including how early termination fees work:

If you are on a month to month you can downgrade your store at any time without penalty.

If you are on a yearly subscription, then that is different.  You need to wait until you are close to your renewal date to downgrade or close without penalty.  For example I just got my reminder from Ebay today that my store renews on May 1st.  So now is the time for me to decide if I want to make any changes without concern of penalty.

Anyone that doesn't know when their store subscription renewal date is, just go to Mange My Store.

Look on the left side of your screen.

Drop all the way to the bottom of the list of things you can access to the last box called Related Links.

The nest to the last option in that box is Manage Subscriptions.

Click on that and you will see the information on when your store renews.

Here is the schedule of penalty fees if you choose to make changes before the end of your subscription.

Yes, and it doesn't have to be on a precise date, either - my yearly basic sub renewed  and about April 4 I realised I hadn't caught it, so I decided to see what would happen if I tried cancelling now - it was OK, I was still able to make the shift from basic to starter without encurring the penalty.  I think there may be a 30 day period of grace or something.

ETA: Oh, right - here it is “Mandatory Subscription Period” shall mean the period between the Subscription Start Date and the end of the first full calendar month of your current subscription."

When you downgrade or cancel a Store subscription, the change takes effect on the first day of the next calendar month.  So if you want to downgrade or cancel your store effective on May 1, you can cancel any time during April. Details are in the terms of service as linked by @my-cottage-books-and-antiques  .

My store renews at the yearly rate on May 1st. I am going to downgrade a level a day before and save myself some money and use the 50,000 free for 3 months then I will upgrade again at the end of July back to my regular Premium store subscription. I mean it's a no brainer that will save myself 120 bucks over the next 3 months.

No it does not start the subscription over.  A subscription is for one year.  You can upgrade anytime you want without change [other than store fee].  It is downgrading that is the issue when you have a one year subscription.

LOL now if this was just over on MY thread I started for this reason I could mark it the solution. cause this is what I'm gonna do, till at least July then see if I get that letter or not before I upgrade it back to Premium.
