While this represents a great opportunity and announcement the site has to do better at letting Sellers actually sell things that are in high demand at reasonable prices ... masks (handmade or manufactured), toilet paper, wipes, etc..

Changing store level also changes your renewal date when you're on an annual subscription. @cynthealee2
Why would it do that? Changing her store to a Basic store in the next few days would implement that change on May 1st. Which is also her current renewal date. So why would it change? And what would it change to?

The reasons to downgrade to the Basic Store vs Starter Store
Basic Store still receives
- Reduced FVF discount of 9.15% vs 10% - May or may not be important to you.
- Quarterly eBay shipping supply coupon of $25.00 - May or may not be important to you.
- Access to Terapeak services - May or may not be important to you.
Thanks @go-bad-chicken , you hit on one difference I missed that IS important to me....vacation settings.
Vacation settings are included with Starter Store subscriptions that is why I had edited my post earlier.
Geez, you must have editing while I was replying.
Just so you know. Originally when they came out with the Starter Store, vaca setting were not available. At some point, to which I don't know when it was, they changed that. So you weren't completely wrong, it is the way it use to be.

NOPE! There is no visibility push for having a store of any level.

I honestly could not speak to that. That sounds like an unspoken unseen invisible punishment. That would be pretty unethical of eBay if they implemented that tactic.
I get it that you don't feel you can speak to that, but then you did.
It is NOT a "unspoken unseen invisible punishment". That is a statement that can really scare some members and is completely unfair unless you have some facts to back that up.

Are they saying in this announcement that we will receive new 200 free listing promos, or only that if we have any free listings left, those can be used till end of July? I have rad the part of the announcement for non-store subscribers at least twice, but cannot be certain. Or maybe it is just the late hour.

In case you didn't have the opportunity to read the announcement, here it is.
On March 17, 2020, we announced all eBay Store subscribers could list up to 50,000 additional fixed price listings free in March and up to 50,000 additional listings free in April in order to test new inventory that buyers may be searching for in the challenging COVID-19 environment. Then on April 2, 2020, we announced that sellers who do not currently have a store would receive 200 additional fixed price and auction listings free to list and sell more during this challenging time.
These promotions were well received by our sellers and many of you shared that you’d like to have more time to take full advantage of the free listings. Effective immediately, to make sure you have ample time to bring on new inventory, we’re extending both of these offers through July 31. If you are a store subscriber, you will have 50,000 additional free listings per month for May, June, and July once activated. All other sellers will receive 200 additional fixed price and auction listings for May, June, and July once the promotion is activated.
If you have already activated the promotion, you do not need to take any action. Your promotion will automatically be extended through July.
If you are a Store subscriber and have not activated the promotion, you can find complete details and activate the promotion on the promotion page.
For other sellers who don’t currently have a store, if you have not activated the promotion, you can find details and activate on the promotion page.
Stay up to date on eBay COVID-19 protections and support in the COVID-19 Community Hub.

The post I quoted was asking about "when you go back up." If she downgrades before the May 1st renewal she'll keep the May 1st renewal for now. Later if she decides to upgrade after the 50k promo ends (aka "go back up" as she phrased it) she'll have a new renewal date based on when she upgrades - it will probably an August 1st renewal if she rides out the 50k promo.

It looks like you get 200 per month up to July 31
Thanks! That would be great. The funny part is, at the time when the 400 (2 x 200) FREE listings ran out, I had 236 listings as active and of those, about 190 were FP listings, with the expiration date being 14 days away. So, in the light of that, it looks like even after having received the second batch of 200, auction listings kept eradicating the FREE listings - but still, I had approx. 100 left when I noticed the next morning that both 200 batches showed zero left. Hmm. Just one of the - many - mysteries on eBay!
But if they will issue 200 for each coning month till the end of July, that would take care of the problem.
Have a nice day

@go-bad-chicken I actually thought you were being humourous with the 'unspoken unseen invisible' punishment, given how often some kind of secret squirrel agenda on eBay comes up as a reason for low sales.

I actually know @go-bad-chicken to be a helpful and responsible poster. They have been around for a long time and often share great advice. I've learned much from them over the years. And I understand that some will find the post humorous, but the point is some won't. And it is those that don't that it could cause them great concern at a time when none of us need extra concerns put on our plates.
Using emojis can help to indicate it is something said in sarcasm or in a joking manner.
My post to them was not meant to be insulting or in any way demeaning. And I further respect that you took it as a joke, that may or may not be true for others.

I agree with you whole heartily.
While I often times attempt to interject some levity and humor into my posts I am also trying to be a good steward for other sellers and especially for new sellers by passing along correct and accurate information with regards to selling here on eBay.
I do agree with you that my post up thread (post 26) could easily be misconstrued as actually being factual, by another seller who finds this thread at a later date and takes that statement, in the way that I made it, and accept it as fact.
So it would have probably been better to have at least separated the two statements in some fashion or another.
My only concern would be the unknown which is this-- would dropping a level or 2 to take advantage of the 3 month savings mean a drop in VISIBILITY?
I honestly could not speak to that. Which I can't. But I do not actually believe that if a seller were to downgrade their store subscription to a lower tier that they would see a corresponding drop in their overall visibility.
That sounds like an unspoken unseen invisible punishment. That would be pretty unethical of eBay if they implemented that tactic.😉 I don't actually believe this part. This part was intended to be sarcastic. But I can also see where a new seller might come along and believe this part to be true. Especially since I did not originally make any distinction or separation between the two statements.
Furthermore I was not insulted whatsoever by your post. I took it for what it was. A correction of my oversight. So thank you. Because ultimately I never would want to be responsible for leading someone else into believing that they would somehow be punished by eBay for doing something so basic as down grading their store subscription, at the time that their current subscription was due to expire. That is just simply not true.
Because if that were true, that would be a little too close to la cosa nostra, if you ask me.😉

Which is going to BITE if I get that MP letter in Sept. With the renewal date in May and a letter in Sept telling me some time in Oct or Nov I'd be 6 months in and the termination fee would be smaller...
Can some one smarter than me MATH this out for me.
Basic store 3 months VS Premium https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/fees-credits-invoices/store-fees?id=4122
Then the difference between Early term on Premium at 1-2 months vs 6-7 months.
