Did you mean:

The generation of entitled buyers.

I've read several posts lately about entitled buyers.

I was standing in line at a subway once.

A lady walked in holding  a sandwich saying "I need another sandwich. This one fell on the ground."

The workers started making her a new sandwich.

I questioned the manager about this. In essence we're all paying for her new sandwich.

Why does she get a new/free sandwich if SHE dropped the sandwich outside the store?

(Even if it was inside the strore, why should she get a free sandwich?)

The response from the manager was "We have a no confrontation policy".

It's bad that this new generation of customers feels so entitled.

It's even worse that some businesses have adapted to them.

Congrats to you.  That's quite an accomplishment.

Well, nothing more than expected, surely.   I mean, I do feel entitled  to a long life.

Re: The generation of entitled buyers.

There are DEFINATE differences. This latest generation seems to lack a sense of shame.

I've never seen someone act the fool over a hamburger and get violent, until the last decade. Before internet and computers, people could not act "tough" hidden behind a keyboard. If you acted tough, you better be able to back it up years ago.

You also were told to suck it up and man up, years ago. Today we pander to everyone's little feelers for the sake of not "hurting their feelings".

People are much weaker today. People are WAY less self reliant. Testosterone is a four letter word today. Being a "man" and doing what is necessary to take care of your family, is looked at as chivalry and a bad thing.  Toxic masculinity.

No, there are no similarities to most of the people today, and 50 years ago. Men's and Women's attitudes are 180 degrees different.

Re: The generation of entitled buyers.

When working at a convenience store (at their post office counter), I was helping ring in a bunch of after school kids (because some steal, so you gotta ring them through quickly so they leave). A guy comes in with a package and starts mouthing off because I'm not at my counter. I told him "I'll be with you in a minute, I'm ringing through a customer". He starts mouthing off some more about how he's a customer too.

He wasn't first in line, but when I did get to him, I refused to serve him. He told me he was going to call the police if I didn't serve him, so I said do that. Then I said "I don't see you calling the police". He refused to leave, so I called the police (not that they are quick to answer these calls). While I was on the phone in the backroom with the police, the other clerk ringed him through very quickly.

The manager told me to serve these people as quickly as possible so they leave. I said "I don't reward bad behaviour".

Being the unloyal employee that I am to that organization, I started paying attention to customers who complained about their staff or being short staffed, and one of them offered me a job for $2.50 more an hour. It wasn't really a better job by any means, but it was in an office which gave me a tiny bit of experience to find something better. I now make 5x my convenience store salary working at a company that's in the top five of it's industry in Canada.

Not to go off topic but .., there are a lot of Karens out there born in the 40's and 50's, who are not selfish or feel entitled. Take care.

Re: The generation of entitled buyers.

Buyers just don’t understand the fees, costs, etc.. when it comes to selling.  They think we make a bunch of $ from a $10 w free shipping sale (of which I never do that).

Trying to sell a name brand winter hat for 15 with free shipping.  Shipping is $5, eBay’s fees 13.25% of final sale, original investment which it was a gift, time and materials, gas, envelope mailer, reporting income, and if you own/rent a storage space(s).  The rent on that, the cost of employees, insurance.

“would you take $10?”

”the **bleep** no!”
