Does eBay have an option for shops to opt into site-wide sales for Black Friday, Cyber Monday, etc? Or does each store set their own sale/discount terms?

@mister*pandemonium  I think etsy does something like that. ebay does not. I have tried for years to get ebay to at the very least give us advance notice for any promos they are doing over the Holidays, so that we could prepare for them and try to tag on, with or without ebay's "help"

Unfortunately, ebay has no interest in helping its sellers that way.

Each store does their own thing. You can promote your eBay sales through your social media accounts.

eBay does run Daily Deals (found at the top of the eBay home page) and category-specific coupon events, but nothing you're selling would fit in to those specific promos.

They can't really run special like you might see done on Amazon because Ebay does not ship most of the products sold here, in fact they don't ship any of them.  There is a vast difference between the two sites.

But you can promote your store on your social media accounts, run a markdown sale, offer coupons, etc.  Ebay does have tools in which sellers can choose to use.

Just some ideas.

I am thinking of having a big sale on Black Friday too. Or Cyber Monday. I actually saw an eBay commercial yesterday during the football game.

Yes, I am in the process of moving away from Etsy so understand the difference in approach.  I don't mind it and I would much rather have control of my shop's sale events, than be forced into the heard.  Thanks for your insight exactly the answer I was looking for.

I don't see any reason why I would lower my prices for black friday. It is nearly impossible to entice buyers to purchase multiple items at once on ebay, so the idea of having some sort of loss leader is ridiculous.

Running a sale on Cyber Monday can work OK.  More eyes are shopping on the internet.  It helps to bring them in.

Black Friday is more for Brick and Mortar stores.  What I find is that some buyers will use that weekend to shop, get ideas, look at pricing and then come back to the internet to find their best deal.
