TOP RATED SELLER DISCOUNT DISAPPEARED then TOP RATED STATUS for ANY LISTINGS

So I have been a top rated seller since day 1.  I sell fashion jewelry.  I offered the same day shipping and 30 day returns.  With the change of item specifics I was working my account more closely and noticed for some reason my 197 listings that had 177 that qualified (I have 20 wholesale listings with no returns)  - only 112 were qualifying.  Over 4 hours on the phone yesterday with our customer support in the Philippines, we were unable to resolve anything.  We changed same day ship to one day ship and back... waited ... changed 30 day returns to 14 day returns and back to 30.   

All kinds of erroneous information from the supervisors there to the support person I was working with made it all VERY frustrating!  We also ALL know this.  They insisted things that any seasoned person knows is untrue - "If you do global shipping then you must offer free 30 day international returns"  and other bad information like that.  In the end, they said they would "escalate" this and email me back.

Then I was transferred to the US and spoke to a very skilled intelligent support person.  We went over and redid all of the "tests" to fix the status and nothing worked.  They also said they would have this "escalated" and email me back.

After that the 112 qualifying items went to zero within 30 minutes.  I called back, got another inexperienced but VERY SMART young man again in the Phillipines and again the supervisor giving wrong information that he and I knew was incorrect.  UGH  But we jumped the hoops and nothing fixed any of it.  The proof of my business policies lies with my other selling account in fine jewelry with the same exact policies and qualifying 100%  The end of that call promised me escalation and a solution with emailing me of it.  

So today I made yet another call that ended in a disconnection (they hung up) when we did all the same things yet again, nothing worked, and all supervisors were too busy for me.  Two subsequent calls from customer support got me a person that disconnected directly after they answered.

 

24 years and it has come to "hey grandma - too bad, so sad"  Anyone else experiencing this particular nightmare?  I had a resulting 2 sales yesterday where regularly there are 10.  Am I alone with this?

Is it possible that just the display is wrong or have you actually sold items with the badge but you aren't receiving the discount?  I believe that the discount shows as a 'special promotion'.

 

 As far as tech seeing this post, they don't usually read the boards.  You might want to contact customer service on Facebook or Twitter through the private message function.

Forgive me, but I'm just not clear about your post:

 

Does your concern relate to your TRS status? Or are you posting about TRS+ listings?

 

I see 394 active listings under the id you've used to post your comment. 219 have free returns. I do see that some of them have 14-day returns (which would not affect TRS, but would affect TRS+). I just looked at a couple of your listings, though, so I'm not trying to make a generalized statement about them.

 

P.S. I do find your references to "in the Philippines" interesting. Just not sure why that would be identified.

It is not the people of the Phillipines that I am meaning but the young inexperienced people that are the type of support offered by ebay from there.  Unfortunately, when I have need support after selling for 24 years it is almost always some WEIRD issue that even the most seasoned support veteran has no experience in.  A young person in their early 20s  can only have so much experience.  LOL !  

As the US support gentleman with over 15 years at ebay and a MASTERS degree (!) could not help either...

well, there ya go.

 

My top rated plus benefits are on ZERO listings.  176 qualify for the badge AND more important at this point - the 10% discount I am being gypped of.  The 14 day returns you saw was the "test" support and I had performed this morning.  They are all 176 back to 30 day returns.  I am leaving the 1 day handling on which in actuality makes me ship everything that has been ordered up to 2AM on the same day.

Yes, thank you however none of them appear as qualifying and none of them are getting the discount.  See my screenshots above.  As I show in my policies and status NONE are getting my discount, none appear as qualifying for the most important person - ME and my wallet.  

 

Even with 14 day free returns my items (in Jewelry % Watch category) still would qualify for the status but without the badge on my listings and discount on final value fees but did not.  Just not getting my discount.  Over total of 7 hours on the phone with support and ZERO resolution.  I expect to see all kinds of people starting to get these issues also as they do the "recommended" item specifics.  I am uncertain how or exactly when this occurred.  I have maintained most of these particular listings since about 2007 only making changes to update photos and new requirements.

Finally, I am actually praying that a tech support person somehow notices this posting and investigates BEFORE the avalanche of other sellers is hit.  I am interested in other people this is occurring to but more interested in a resolution.

SElling things for 2 days now of not getting the discount.  I found yesterday that at some point it had dropped to only 112 "qualified" although 176 actually did since listing these in 2007.  Then after contacting a 4+ hour support call it fell to zero.  Thank you for suggestion of PM facebook.  I will try that!  🙂

That did it!  Immediate assistance and a resolution they don't claim but happened nonetheless.  Such a relief.  It never occurred to me to do anything private message EVER but as desperate as I was...  I think ok as a last resort.  THANK YOU pjcdn2005!

Reply to my own post with THE solution of mysterious "unqualified for TRS+ discount" on listings.  The end result was that I had removed Paypal as the method of payment for my ebay shipping.  I have done managed payments since inception and used my band and credit card for everything else.  That same credit card in Paypal was paying for the ebay shipping THROUGH Paypal.  When I removed Paypal )spring cleaning account) and made sure I would be charged directly though the credit card instead - THAT is what triggered removal of TRS+ status.  

 

As I said, after 24 years selling here when I have an issue it is very weird and usually a difficult answer to find.  I hope this helps someone else sometime.

I don't see how using a credit card for shipping would equate with losing TRS status.

Just throwing this up for someone else who may view this thread...

This was happening at random to me too in the last week.....In my case, I followed the bread crumbs toI check the "Business Policies" and there must have been 400 lines of various combinations of Mail Service/Costs/etc......

seems that when i updated a listing, the return policy "defaulted" to a "default" option of "buyer paid returns", of which I don't offer buyer paid...all mine are seller paid.

Looking at my listing page I don't see the "standard" options in the shipping area....but all these hundreds of options.....(then a couple more options to edit|create\apply.....gonna take some figuring out here I think....

It was not using my credit card that removed my TRS status.  It was removing Paypal.  Although I have a bank and that same credit card on my ebay account and list those as preferred method of paying account charges, ebay STILL goes first to my Paypal (with that same credit card there) to do account charges.  It took going to facebook to get someone to get another someone to contact me from the US.  That person was able to get ebay accounting to get into my actual account, find the glitch, correct it to charge my selection and done.  BTW in the process we added back my useless-to-ebay Paypal account, it fixed nothing, and I am never touching anything again. haha
