Swarms of low ballers

For the first time I decided to plummet the prices of all listings in one of my accounts for a day or two to get a quick burst in sales. The entire store selling all items at no profit.

For example, selling a shirt at $4 instead of its regular price of $15. I found out this tactic draws also bunch of buyers who message me to send lowball offers to my already lowball prices. It’s not that they still try to negotiate, but it’s the aggressive way they do it. I don’t mind if someone simply asks if I can do better. But I’m getting messages like “Your price is too high. I’m not buying this until you lower your shipping price (which is set at $4).” Some of these buyers even admitted to having the items in their cart before I even dropped the prices by 73%. Some complain that the shipping is the same cost of the shirt now.

I’m betting had I not done this two day huge sale I wouldn’t have attracted these types of messages.

I agree with your line of thinking. In my experience, those most aggressive about price, creating issues, finding problems that don't exist, etc are attracted like flies to rotting fruit when prices are low, especially if lower than market value.

You exposed the flesh, and the scavengers have pounced 🤣

My buddy list would expand so quickly that it might cause eBay to freeze up😂

That's what happens when you price to low.  You should try doubling  your normal price and see what kind of offers you get then.   Could be worth a try.

Pricing stuff too low is like wearing a sign on your back that says, "Kick Me Hard."

I’m doing some experiments in regards to exposure of some types of listings.

Again, it really isn’t the negotiators that gets me, it’s the aggressive way they do it. It’s not much similar to what I recently read about how some buyers insult your item in order to make a lower offer to buy it from you.

Aggressive bullying is the name of the game here - it hasn't changed in thousands of years.

I'm genuinely not sure why you're surprised by this. Discounting stuff down to giveaway prices signals to buyers that you just want it gone, so they're more likely to be aggressive to try to get it for as little as possible since it's clear that your main priority is getting rid of it rather than trying to turn a profit.
