Suspicious offers made to me

Hello everyone,

I am new to eBay and I have experienced some weird experiences while trying to sell my computer on eBay.

My computer price is set as $680 or best offer, I received an offer for $900, but the seller left me a message and asked me to contact using text message instead of eBay, it feels suspicious to me so I declined the offer.

20 min later, I received another offer for $680, but also left me a message and asked me to contact using text message, I declined this offer as well. And if this buyer intended to buy, why don’t they use buy it now as they are offering the same price I am asking.

Whats bugging me is both users are not new, one of them are actually with eBay for 14 years and some positive reviews , but what they asked seems suspicious to me, does it smells like scam to you too? And how would you handle this situation?

I wanted to report these potential buyers to eBay, but you can’t unless you got into transactions with them?

And is it because I am a new seller (account only opened for few days) that’s why people targeted at me?

Yes, you are targeted as a new seller as "gullible".........

Offers are scams.......accounts may be highjacked..........they will come back with fake PP paid messages, ask you to buy Money orders for the extra money.......take the sale off ebay as their PP account won't work, etc.  All are scams......and those things may happen even if someone buys at auction.....just be aware and check your PP account to be sure the money is there before you ship.

And because you are selling a high dollar, high risk item online.

These are shark infested waters, swim at your own risk.

New  sellers like yourself should not be selling high dollar tech items on Ebay.  Best to sell locally as scammers seek out new sellers of such items.  You can easily reduce your price for local sale by at least 20% and still some out ahead.
