Suspended accounts

Has anyone else had there accounts suspended over selling aunt Jemima branded products. eBay has suspended both of my accounts for 3 days over it and yet you can do a search band there is literally thousands of hits for a search for Aunt Jemima

Re: Suspended accounts

The original images on food items of "Aunt Jemima" and "Uncle Ben" were dressed as slaves.  It was a tradition to call slaves by relationship titles like "Aunt" and "Uncle" if the so-called owners were fond of them. Over many years, the manufacturers have revised the images on food products to Middle Class Americans, but not the names, so the use of "Aunt Jemima" and "Uncle Ben" as product names remains discriminatory.

In the last year, eBay has banned selling any "Black Americana" items. There are many people that collect Black Americana items, ranging from food images to racist collectibles to images that have little or no "Black Americana" ties. Frankly, I am glad to see that they are no longer allowing the sale of anything related to slavery and/or racism.

Re: Suspended accounts

You do live in a free country. You can go out in public and eat all the syrup you want, any brand!  But while you're in ebay's house, you must follow ebay rules.   Simple.

Re: Suspended accounts

I'm not referencing anything illegal.  I'm talking about everyday products.  California has  some of the most stringent laws  in the nation with regard to household items.   Health and hazard warnings have to be on everything,  Many pesticides were banned that helped control diseases like West Nile and Zika viruses.  Can no longer purchase incandescent lights bulbs.  No exotic skins or animal furs. Very restrictive gun laws. You cannot peel an orange in your hotel room.  Bans on Vape juices.  Sugary drinks in schools.   They banned stores from giving plastic bags, yet they can sell them to you.   Restrictions on air purifiers, air conditioners,  and water softeners.  The list is endless.    Every year they come up with new product bans.  Now they want to hold individuals who sell on marketplace venues legally accountable for the sale of products with manufacturing defects.  Although there are reasons it's impossible to know what can is legal.

Re: Suspended accounts

Actually we do live in such a world.  The left mocks and insults everyone who doesn't walk in lockstep with them.

@dionne59

It’s not all of a sudden. This thread started 15 months ago.

The issue is not with the pancake mix, it’s an issue with the depiction of the character on the label.

Yes, the image has been around for ages. It doesn’t get less offensive as time goes by. Actually, as time goes by, decent humans realize the errors of the past and seek to be better going forward.
