Has anyone else had there accounts suspended over selling aunt Jemima branded products. eBay has suspended both of my accounts for 3 days over it and yet you can do a search band there is literally thousands of hits for a search for Aunt Jemima

Ebay has recently updated their policies on Black memorabilia.  If you got the little suspension, it would have been preceded by a couple email warnings from Ebay.  Typically the first email will tell you why the listing was removed and telling you not to list it again.

If you ignored that and tried to list it again, then a second warning would have been issues.  If you ignore that too, then they are hoping a temporary suspension will get your attention so you will stop the behavior they have been trying to get you to stop.

They sent me one email and I relisted with blurred image and only titled pancake mix and syrup yet there is literally thousands of listings that are titled aunt Jemima pancake mix and syrup so what makes those sellers any different than me or the rest of us small sellers. Is it because they pay thousands of dollars a month in fvf to eBay? Now I have money out on a product that I can't get any return from

I cannot believe that we now live in a country where Aunt Jemima syrup is considered racist. "Jemima" is an Arabic name meaning "Little Dove" and comes directly from the Bible's Book of Job, as it was the name of one of Job's three daughters.  Aunt Jemima, as illustrated, may not be the most beautiful woman on the block, but in her defense she probably was when she was younger, before all the days spent making syrup began wearing on her.

Seriously, though: There's no direct link to African Americans or blacks in general that makes Aunt Jemima derogatory by any means.  If anything, eBay's barring sales of this label is religious discrimination against Jews, Christians, and Catholics (of which I am one). There's far more justification for this than any racial concern.

This seems like something worthy of a lawsuit...

Did/Will they ban Uncle Ben's Rice too?

I don't know. Its weird they go after Aunt Jemima, Uncle Ben's Rice, Eskimo Pies, Rosarita Beans but not Mrs. Butterworth.

Why would you relist it?

Have a great day.

Why would you even think of relisting the item after being told it was a violation....and on top of that, try to circumvent things be loading a blurred image.

You might be looking at a permanent suspension if you continue down that road.

The difference is they haven't been caught yet...it doesn't relieve you of having to play by the rules.

It's almost like thrill seekers with too much time on their hands. Don't agree or disagree with all these banned items, but it's much easier to list some of the billions of legitimate items. Why push the envelope????

Because we are supposed to live in a free country and we have zero rights anymore it is simply a food product with the image a African American woman on it there is nothing that solicitates hatered or violence like they said  if you are selling clothing or a book that has African Americans on the cover that is perfectly fine but basically what I'm getting at is what is the difference between simple pancake mix and syrup than anything else that has African American images than anything else just like sports cards

Because Aunt Jemima is perceived as a slave.

Because the name is associated with an offensive racial stereotype..namely "slave".
