Why do we entertain these Sri Lanka posts?

Re: Support

Unless/until your country will allow you to accept Paypal from buyers, you will be unable to sell on eBay.

Hence, I guess the answer to your question is "none".

Re: Support

Every single time I recognize one, I swear I won't answer.  But then I see others who have missed the "Sri Lanka" location and I picture those Sri Lankans getting their hopes up, so I feel obligated to shoot them down.

Any suggestions on what we can/should do about these questions, which to most of us are just spam?  Since the board change.....we apparently are getting all of them on this board and kind of discouraging to have to open each one to figure out if it's a question from a legit seller or just another "helpful" quest for whatever reason.

In case you've missed it, we've tried in the past to answer/help but there is no engagement from the posters so that's just a waste of time.  It's now come down to......you can't legally sell here....so go away, though most of us would rather be more polite about it, that impulse is waning after multiple posts a day......

Re: Support

Beginner sellers must be buyers first.  Spend all you can here.  Buy lots of stuff.  Need any silverware?

Re: Support

Given the seller's location, he could spend a billion dollars on eBay and still be unable to sell from Sri Lanka.

Re: Support

Isn't there a support board in Sri Lanka for these questions. or was that one of the boards cancelled?

@dhbookds Since the Community is an open discussion platform where anyone is welcome, these members are ok to post here (as long as they follow the Community rules, of course) . I appreciate that you and others are being polite, and I understand why it's frustrating when OP's don't respond. My suggestion would be to have pre-written message that you can copy/paste in these situations, then move on. If the OP wants to read it and respond they will. Or you can just ignore these posts when you come across them and not engage.

Re: Support

Thanks Brian.........at this point, since these posters are not part of ebay.....they can't/don't sell......it's hard to accept the NUMBER of posts they are making........when it was just a couple.....it was fairly easy.  I agree it's an open board.....but it ought to be open only to those who can sell on ebay.......to me....... but that's just my opinion......

Fair enough, but the issue isn't that they aren't replying, it's that they're posting for the sole purpose of getting a higher post count and give each other helpful votes. They are under the impression that this somehow affects their rating/ability to sell.

The same thing was going on in the New to Ebay boards but they have migrated here since those boards were shut down. They all copy pasted the same non-nonsensical questions to the point where any legit question was pushed off the main page (see attached picture), gave each other a bunch of helpfuls and often chose posts containing false information as solutions. I'm pretty sure this is messing up the algorithm that was created so people who look up their issues on the boards can see previous answers given. This is almost the equivalent of feedback padding...

They're essentially spamming the boards thinking their feedback score will go up and I believe that would be considered disruptive and against the Community guidelines (especially when they start advising others in how to illegally obtain stolen PayPal accounts).
