Good day! I have a 23 year old eBay account with a 100% positive feedback rating across the years, both buying and selling.
I've not sold anything on eBay since 2011, and was shocked to find out today my listing was rejected due to a permanent selling restriction. I spoke with customer service and was informed that the restriction was placed in 2012 and no appeal was possible. No details were given as to the reason for the suspension.
I looked back in my old email, the only possible thing I found was a listing for an Xbox that was rejected for copyright infringement back in 2011. I cannot imagine a warning like this would result in a lifetime ban from the platform? Aside from this single listing's issue, I find no notification from eBay related to any account suspension or restriction.
Obviously, I don't want to start fresh with a new account and that may even violate the TOS as I am permabanned? Since customer service cannot provide any information, how do I go about escalating this matter to at least get an explanation for why this happened?
Thanks so much.

...you still can be a buyer, but not a seller right...?
...since eBay had permanently banned you, I don't think you will get any re-consideration from them...but 50/50, why not knocking their door one more time...
...calling customer services is no helps...many posters here suggested to contact eBay by email through Facebook or Twitter...you might look into that option...
...I wish you a lot of luck...
...enjoy your weekend...

Generally speaking--with only occasional exceptions--members don't seem to have much success having permanent bans lifted. Perhaps an old email explaining the reason(s) behind the ban was sent to a spam/trash folder or lost in cyberspace. This eBay Help Page may have relevant information:
Account holds, restrictions, and suspensions
It would indeed be a violation of eBay policy for you to open a new account to circumvent a ban and could lead to a complete ban from the site--including buying.
You can try contacting customer service through Facebook or Twitter to perhaps receive additional instruction or information on your ban.
Good luck!

Ebay can do as it pleases provided they do not violate any laws, so if they want to ban you, they can. This is akin to an employer firing an at-will employee.
I always try to adhere to the letter of Ebay's policies. But if Ebay banned me for any reason, I would simply move on and not complain.
By dealing with Ebay, you assume the risk that they may blacklist you without explanation. Ebay does not need your approval.

None of us here know why you were permanently banned. You should be asking ebay. Good luck!
