Sudden drop in sales May 2022

they rely on sellers to figure everything out themselves, and thus is why you, me, and everyone else are here on community, scratching our heads and trying to figure what's going on this week lol... do say though, if ever I wanted employment from ebay I'm already trained lol

I also have had a sudden drop in sales as of June 2022. I noticed the drop in June but figured that it was summer time and people would be spending on vacations. I thought I would wait a little bit to see what happens. What got me bothered now is that one item in pitcular is the one that should have been selling all through the summer like last year and the year before. I sell golf tees of a certian kind and they usualy do very well. I noticed that the sales have declined almost 90% this summer. Alright maybe not everyone that usually plays golf is playing this year. So I did a little investigating, checked others that are sell the same item. Found that they are doing very well. So I lowered my price to beat theirs. Still little to none movement in sales. I found that I'm only selling one to their 3 to 4 sales. 

          My question is why? Is there a reason for this? I have used other peoples cumputers to look the golf tees so that ebay would not recognize me as a seller. Noticed that when I look them up the other sellers come up first and I am on the bottom of the listing. Sometimes my listing don't even come up.  I have 100% good feedback, I ship the same day of the sale, It's free shipping, Never had a complaint about the item. Maybe because I didn't promote them. I only make $.25 on each one I sell. Promoting them only adds more cost that you have to pay. Then I would be making nothing. Is there anyone that can explain to me about the problem Im having? I'm about ready to give up on selling them.

Exactly!!! It has not gotten for me since May - last 2 days no sales, no offers, no nothing!! They could care less about the small seller..sorry the rant -

Today marks 7 days with zero sales for me.

As I said before, I had fairly consistent normal sales through August which for me means that I was selling 1 to 3 items per day with only a few no sales days through the whole month.  I thought things were getting back to normal. Then on August 28th everything started going back in the tank just like when this first started in mid May.  I had just started recovering from the 60% drop during June.

This is crazy!  Full blown anxiety attack here.

There will be no news.  This dramatic drop in sales happened to me in May and affected many other sellers as as well.  It's now September and I have heard absolutely nothing.  And more changes with categories I believe coming September 20th?  More aggravation.

I had 3 yesterday, but my store fee was charged yesterday...like I said, it's a trend with my account, few days before it's charged i have no sales, every month it happens, coincidence i guess, idk. 
Rants are fine... there's a lot to rant about these days lol...

all i know is that the things they are taking as priority and placing their focus on/in hasn't worked to drive traffic or sales, both are at loss. And this focus obsession they have with trying to target gen x etc... is more or less hurting the over all health of it's sellers and the company as a whole. Specialists have said they are delusional in their ideas and direction and it's starting to show everywhere. Believe PLs is the answer to their issues but the fees sellers have to charge to their buyers to cover it is part reason for lesser sales. They don't care about because they don't have to source anything, they don't have to pay for supplies for office or ship, they don't have to cover the costs of doing business and they don't ship any product... this is partly why their sense of direction is flawed because it doesn't take into account the sellers side of things for them to have anything to offer for sale. Top all off they can't maintain the site to good working order and that is all their entire fault for wanting to make everything "universal" to all devices. The attraction to buyers decrease and so the trickle down effect is it is then no longer attractive to the sellers either, not when they are experiencing record sales elsewhere (everywhere but here). It's not the full of problems but if look at things in isolated manner see where a lot of issues are....just they don't apparently. There are buyers on the site, they are looking at the product... it's that next step of the clicking of add to cart or purchase now that is missing.

Same here.  Got billed for my store fees this morning and am now in the negative which never happens to me either because I've always had enough sales to cover the fee.

Hard to do when you have zero sales for 7 days straight.  Its the first of the month plus its a long weekend and still no sales!  Usually have 1 to 3 sales on a daily basis.  This is so bad!!

well can't say it's "never" happened to me, it has a few times in the past but then I get a sale and it covers it - i just don't get anything usually from that sale lol...I have actually had payout in the morn when they charge it few hours later and there then nothing there for them to take cause they sent it to my bank already and I had to make payment via one on file. (Ok technically, i didn't "have to" you can actually wait like a week I think before they do "something" but I just get it out the way and pay immediately). On side note, I claim the cost for the store on my returns, it's deductible as a biz expense. 

I had 3 yesterday/last night... sent one yesterday, I just got back from PO and sent the other out already...i typically send everything same or next day, even on Sat. unless I can't make the PO on Sat... being Mon holiday, if I sent them Tue, they wouldn't deliver til end and following week as everything I send here, even priority get processed through facility here but nothing actually leaves for Denver facility til following day. I also wanted to get them out as soon as PO opened as I have to be here today for incoming packages from over seas I have to sign for.

Just launched a 30 day PLS Campaign yesterday (Friday) in an effort to stimulate some sales ... it's the 2nd one of this quarter ... I usually only do one a quarter but I need to increase cash flow.  I will be interested to see how it fares this holiday weekend.  I have over 300 items on the Campaign and a fixed Ad rate of 8%.  So far 2 sales ...

@mr_lincoln it can boost sales doing a new campaign...granted nothing freezes in the process... happens sometimes and 2 days will pass with nothing going on...if impressions drop usually sign need to do it again. It's the PLS election of 8% I would be concerned with, IMO, it's far to much to be giving this company for all the issues they have etc... and lack of sales. It's not about the profit margin... I can take cut here and there and be completely fine, it's the constant long run of things that bother me.

@nuclearomen   I have used between 5% and 10% Ad rate in the past.   The reason I pick a higher rate is because I want stuff to move, I think it helps drive traffic (at least it did prior to 2022), more long tail items sell during the Campaign then during other times AND those items are already from profitable lots. 

But I "get" the sentiment about not paying Home Office more than the regular FVF ...

So I did some searching and come to find out an alumni of Malaga Cove posted my link from

the eBay listing on Facebook. Did that posting get me the 117 views? If so why isn't our

eBay listing getting those views without the help of Facebook? Signor Francisco 78rpm which is 117 years old gets one view and Elvis gets zero? How can that be? This is going on month five

Impressions and page views are down close to 50% for me.  However, this isn't the best time of year for my items.  Went through and reduced a bunch of prices to ensure I was the cheapest.  Hoping things change but middle of summer with school just starting up and economy not looking pretty guessing it might be time to just pull in the belt strings a little and way for a little improvement and/or Christmas 🙂
