Sudden drop in sales May 2022

The new format on eBay is atrocious. I can not view anything I was watching before this changed.. It's not worth the hassle to navigate on ebay now. It's terrible.

@swa1msy care to elaborate on this, curious as to why you cannot view listings you were watching, did they end by the sellers or you just can't view them? Stuff like this, sellers like to know about, because we don't know that watchers can't view listings unless they tell us, and they never do...so at least I'm curious anyways.

@emuguy76 same thing here (though I never called ebay and asked them to give view counts I can't see)... but that is ODD that THEY can see actual view counts but WE cannot!??? I'm not getting views according to the view count on my seller hub, but then something sells and still the view count is the same as was before sale. velvet@ebay (sorry to tag you know been busy lately) but do you know anything about this? WHY can ebay see the actual views and we (the sellers) cannot

Quite interesting that this thread is making the rounds on ecommercebytes as Ina has posted a story based on what we have been discussing. I have seen the same on other social media sites, and the baseless message that was provided has become a laughing stock. Just wish they would fix the problems already so we can sell how we used to.

ecommercebytes, reports on a lot of threads... but the one for this thread you mention went and looked at it, on the bottom mentions Google updates that happened - interesting to wonder if the cause is at least partially due to this, one hasn't thought of reverse effect coming from Google but instead talked about Ebay's side with Google.

Good question @nuclearomen! It should be updating close to real time as the help page describes here. I found a ticket open related to view counts not matching for some sellers though, so it could be that this is what you're experiencing if you didn't see the view count change.

I've updated the ongoing tech post here with the info Customer Support will need to add you to the ticket.

I am also hurt by dropped sales, I am down 80% on July. I was having great sales, and then suddenly I dried up. E-bay eventually will see that their income are lower than usual and look at their coders who might be sabotaging eBay with intention. Same happened with google who hired coders from other countries and they diverted business and search to sellers from their own countries or big giants like AMZ

I couldn’t agree more! Prior to May, 2022, sales were good. Now I’m only at a third of what I was selling and getting worse. Same categories, some promoted and barely a sale. There is an issue and eBay is riding that slippery slope. The summer slow down coaster has now come to a  screeching halt. For some, this is their income and that alone should scare the heck out of sellers. Reality is truth!

Folks this will be my last post on the sales trainwreck on July....I finished the month slightly over 70% down in sales.

Some sales have come trickling in at the beginning of this month....that has provided a few crumbs of cashflow.   The last few days of July saw my sales down 92%

While I was hoping somebody from ebay management would read some of these posts and make a statement about it's platform efforts.......ebay has simply ignored the sellers that are its primary source of revenue.

In my 23 years of selling I have never seen worse customer service service and an " I dont care about your business" attitude.

And now the lesson has been learned.  I'll be moving as much of my business away from this platform as I can.

It will be difficult because of the size of Ebay but I feel it must be done

I've posted quite a bit on the forums over the last 3 weeks of so trying to figure this all out......many sellers are seeing the same thing but the effort has yielded no net positive result....thus I think my time is better spend putting listings on other platforms and trying to solve the problem that way

This, among MANY other issues that I've reported, are not included there...

I've reported many things that could either be verified and/or I give instructions on how to reproduce. And it just gets ignored... 

Can't help but wonder if eBay just considers broken things as intended, or just doesn't feel it's worth responding to.

It is now August 4th and my sales have dramatically dropped in the last 3 months. I'm doing nothing different. All sales were pretty consistent until eBay changes. Only had a few sales within the last week

The issue you are describing in a common one.   The third party support team hired by ebay has no power to do anything whatsover......they can only report to their manager.     All that we'll have an answer for you in 48 hours after you show them something is a load of bunk.

There has been a bulk label printing issue for over 6 months now in printing 4x6 thermal labels..... I called into support they verified the issue was one that other seller were experiencing...... you think it's fixed yet?  Nope!

Most large companies like ebay do what's called a "deploy" where a large number of issues are fixed at one time..... it's similar to a software update on a computer.

Unfortunately the last several deploys has screwed up more than they have fixed.

The only time these issues are going to be addressed will be in Ebay Q3 earnings report when they put in a turd number and ebay executives start looking for who to blame so they can keep their jobs.

Dont expect anything out of this platform for at least 90 more days
