Stop Tagging the Good Guys and Start Concentrating on The Abusers & Counterfeits!!!

Good morning and sorry for the vent!

First a little background. I have been in couture retail/marketing for over 30 years and on eBay for 17 years. I sell all high end and have not changed the way I list my postings in 17 years, other then the overall look.

Last week I received notice that two of my item that were listed as Miu Miu Prada were removed for name spamming. I called eBay and explained that Prada owns Miu Miu (The Owners Name Is Miucciuse Prada) and often refers this way in their stores and items. I also pointed out that there were almost 2,000 listings this way on eBay. That said I changed the titles on my listings to remove the Prada.

Then two days ago I get suspended for three days for posting Cole Haan Nike Air shoes. I called again and this time I was told I would receive a call back as they had to go higher up for advice. They called me back and said they would reinstate me but I had to relist them without the Nike Air name. As of last night I had yet to be reinstated and had to call again. Also, as of this morning there exactly 7,152 Cole Haan Nike Air listings.

This morning I Posted a Miu Miu wallet. In the body of the listing it does say Miu Miu Prada. Again, Miu Miu is a Prada company. Shortly after I listed this I was suspended again for another three days. In the meantime, as of this morning there are now 2,049 listings of Miu Miu Prada items. This is absolutely crazy!!

However, last week I reported 6 Hermes bags being sold as Authentic, yet they were fake.  I have spent over 30 years in the Retail business and they were very clearly copies.  As of today, non of them have been removed!

It is time for ebay to stop tagging the good guys and start going after those that are really causing the issues on ebay! Everyday I go on my ebay facebook pages and buyers complain about false returns that ebay supporter the buyer over, and/or fakes being sold that continue to get sold over and over.  Ebay start going after the bad guys and leave those that us good guys go!  Guess the thousands of dollars I have made for ebay does not count for anything!

Re: Stop Tagging the Good Guys and Start Concentrating on The Abusers & Counterfeits!!!

I think it's a bot zooming in on Nike, not a competitor reporting.  Cole Haan has used Air in a shoe line title, but not Nike Air.   Same with Miu Miu; the bot is seeing Prada.

I would have advised, prior to your first attempt at listing, that if you must use the word "Prada", then say "Miu Miu is a division of Prada."  Not now, though, since you are on Bot Def Con Alert.

Edit:  PS - Ebay has always cared more about key word spamming because that is something ebay can "control."  Ebay can't control fakes and that's why it invented VeRO, to cover buttocks.

Agree, yet disagree.  My shoes say very clearly Cole Haan - Nike Air.  There are also over 7,000 posting listed this way.  In regards to Miu Miu it is a Prada company and often in their stores and advertising they refer to their company in this way.  Nothing is spamming or Vero but it is being picked up this way.

On a side note, someone must be listening because as of this morning, the 6 items I reported for being fakes are down.

See, this is part of the problem, eBay sticking their heads in the sand as always on major issues and not providing truthful answers to their sellers on reasons why listings at being pulled.

This seller is going to close her store now due to eBay's flawed policies.

eBay still has not answered threads on this forum on why they are pulling millions of listings of sellers because of faulty UPC codes, they are pulling listings of sellers who are paying them big money for stores, still they will not provide answers, eBay employees have given up the ghost in answering these threads on this forum on these issues.  I think they believe if they stay silent the issues will go away and sellers will forget about their lack of providing a response to important issues sellers are raising.

That is not world class, period, end of story, no wonder sellers are closing stores on eBay.

Just curious but the items in questions.  How are you listing them?  As New or as Used?

It isn't about what the shoes say - it's about what ebay wants or doesn't want you to say.

It's ebay's sandbox and they get to make the rules, and the sellers get to be abused for trying to follow them.  For example - ebay has Ivory for a color option in Item specifics, but if you use Ivory in the title to describe the item, ebay will pull the listing for selling ivory, even though you are listing a cream colored tshirt.

Right now, I doubt that it is your competition, once you get a listing pulled for whatever reason, the bots will keep after you.

OP, not sure if you know this, but there is an ebay for selling section on facebook and it seems sometimes that the community heads of ebay hang around on facebook more than they do here, you might be able to find some solutions for your selling problems on facebook.

Yes it is, they most likely are the sellers selling the fakes reporting the sellers who are selling the real thing.

This has nothing to do with fakes, as I have never been accused of selling fakes.  This has to do with Vero Key Word Spamming.  Ebay is saying if you have a pair of Cole Haan Nike Air shoes, you are spamming the name Nike and that is not allowed.  If you have a Miu Miu Prada wallet, you are spamming the name Prada and that is not allowed, even though it is a Prada owned company.  Absolutely nothing to do with fakes.

It actually has nothing to do with Vero.  eBay has no authority to say you can relist  in a Vero takedown.

Somebody reported keyword spamming. It was either a competitor or a do-gooder. Either way, once you got busted the bots are crawling all over your listings. It sucks, but you have to be extra vigilant now.

Nike has either already - or soon will - sign an exclusive distriburship agreement with Amazon, which will be the only authorized online venue for Nike sales.  Since you got a VeRO notice, it is Nike that does not want you selling their goods.

Maybe eBay thinks you are trying to damage other sellers by reporting their items *shrug*, but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for anyone to "go up the chain and get back with you".  eBay is a bureaucracy just like the government - one branch never knows what another is doing.

Actually, the Amazon'Nike deal only makes Nike the authorized dealer of Nike on Amazon. It's a program Amazon came up with to entice major companies to sell directly on their site. Think of it as Vero on steroids.  They can't stop someone from selling Nike on here.

Still, the program will hurt other online retailers because people will want to go to Amazon to buy Nike shoes now.

For what it's worth, the OP is right about the Cole Haan shoes, but the use of Prada is questionable.

So what is the threat of listing Cole Haan Nike Air - That is the brand and name on the shoes?  Or Miu Miu Prada, which is one of the same company?

You need to contact ebay and work your way up the chain of command to show them that you are NOT KWS.

For the Miu Miu Prada connection and proof that you aren't KWS, show them this:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miuccia_Prada

And the pertinent part:

She is the head designer of Prada and the founder of its subsidiary Miu Miu.[1]

Perhaps refer them to these links from NM and Nordies.

Cole Haan Shoes with Nike AIR Technology | Neiman Marcus | Cole Cole Haan Nike - Free Shipping & Returns - nordstrom.com‎

This part of the above shows that prior to Nike splitting, there was a collaboration:

Nike Inc. announced on May 31, 2012, that it will be removing its stake in Cole Haan to focus on other complementary brands and the Nike brand itself.[2][3]

They certainly do use Nike Air. The following is a picture of one of their shoes:

That is really sad that they would care more about their fake sellers then those that don't do anything wrong.  I have been a premium store member for ever and at one time my sales were through the roof! On the 30th of this month, my contract ends - I am throwing in the towel.  I will downgrade and keep my account open until I find another avenue but after 17 years I am so sad to say bye bye!

Sure, they will probably get answers on how to relist, but the second they do, a bot will be all over them like .... well, you know.

Ya know, I got sidetracked for several hours going through new inventory and, when I came back here, I wasn't authorized to post my autosaved response (whatevertheheck that means).  I was apologizing for my without-thinking comment; Cole Haan did use Nike in the shoe title for a while.  I do not think that is the case any longer.
