I was charged $3 simply for saying new with tags on my item.
I was not aware of this charge. Everywhere it says list for free.
So I called the customer service and they told me that it was a sub-title.
I thought i was simply indicating the condition of the item.
BEWARE

The 'Condition' of the item is simply a drop-down menu... you choose from available selections. The 'Sub-Title' is a field where you can add up to 55 characters of descriptive type.
In the future, check the 'Fees' section at the very bottom of the listing (click on the blue 'Fees' area) before you list any item. If there's a charge you don't want to pay for, you can remove the feature.

You can say "New with tags" in the title and you won't be charged a penny.
You can say "New with tags" in the description and you won't be charged a penny.
If you use the subtitle OPTION to say anything at all, you will be charged. And you would have been shown that charge before you clicked the button to submit your listing.
People who can't handle simple facts end up making mistake after mistake, and blaming someone else for every one of them.

You made a mistake. But I also think it was a well-worth-it $3 lesson on being very careful on-line. Web sites thrive on mistakes.

Most definitely, it might even seem as if they design things so as to facilitate possible slip-ups.
A little Blue vs Grey button window during checkout comes to mind.
Stay alert at all times.

And how about those sites with recurring charges when you forget to cancel?
I'm not going to admit how often I've fallen for it.

The drop-down 'Condition' menu that I referred to is just above the 'Condition description' box that @gjs_16 has shown.
The available choices are New with tags, New without tags, New with defects and Preowned. You don't have to add text.

Yes. It looks to be a mistake on my part. In thinking that eBay is a reputable company with integrity I was surprise for them to set up the screens to be somewhat tricky to catch sellers in making these types of mistakes. On a $10 item with did NOT sell and I owe $3 it is not worth it. So I am dropping out as a seller on eBay. It is not worth the time or aggravation for me as it was only a hobby not a business for me.

Be darned if I can understand how that screen is set up to be Tricky........it clearly shows $1.50 right there beside the box......... and identifies it as subtitle.

Gotta second this... there's literally nothing tricky here. There's a very clearly labeled condition box (that you must input something for, you can't just leave blank) and then a second box beneath it for condition description. Using those won't incur any extra charges, and in fact you HAVE to specify the item's condition in order to list it.

Hmmm, certain "service providers" where you can only upgrade but not downgrade and (short of just getting a new credit card and basically defaulting on payment) they basically make it almost impossible to close your account / cancel the service.
I mean it's everywhere, these corporations don't care about their customer and they make it clear in more ways than one, it's amazing they even exist.

At least it isn't a tiny box you have to uncheck in order to not be charged...

Sorry you got tricked by a screen that told you EXACTLY what you would be charged if you used that feature. eBay is diabolical. [/s]

You failed to pay attention and blame ebay? Good luck wherever you end up, you'll need it.
