Starter Store

I downgraded my premium store to a starter store.  I thought I was able to list 100 fixed and 50 auction free each month.  I listed the 100 fixed price but when I go to list the 50 auctions, I'm getting charged.  Any idea what's going on?  Did I misunderstand what the store offered?

Oh yes it's that tricky ebay advertising again, I'm sure this is along the lines of "It's 50 free without a store so when you get a store you get 100 but the 50 is gone" or something like that... Speaking for myself the choice here would appear to be one of basic vs starter store but ebay really should start clarifying these little "gotchas" because I don't think most folks dig the humor in it.

The starter store is 100 listings to be used either as Auction or FP (your choice, but no free BIN on auctions, and auctions are in limited categories).

The 50 free you're seeing is left over from when you had NO store.

When opening a store it's best to use up your free 50 then open the store and get the additional store listings (for the first month anyway - after that you just get the store listings)

With the other stores, free auctions are limited to certain categories........

Premium has this:

Pay no insertion fee for 500 auction-style listings in collectible and fashion categories.

I don't know if the same holds true for  starter stores or not.......

Actually if you downgraded from a basic to a starter, the promotional offers blurb is wrong anyway.

It should be showing both your Basic subscription for the month and your starter store for the month.

The counter for the 50 items should not be showing -- that's just for sellers who don't have a Store.

The Starter Store gets 100 free insertions that can be used for either fixed price or auction-format listings, but the auctions are restricted to the same 13 categories  as all other store subscriptions.

I'm wondering what might have caused the glitch that made the 50-item counter show up --  did you change your subscription level on the first of the month?

The user policy says that a subscription downgrade takes effect on the first day of the next calendar month. So there should never be two counters showing for the same calendar month.

It shows my start date as July 1st, but I made the actual change towards the end of June.

Well, there goes that theory.  I guess there's no explaining eBay glitches, we shouldn't even try.

You should have had the Premmium store through June 30 and then the Starter store on July 1 which seems to have happened according to the policy.

Hi. I raised this same question way back. I changed from Basic to Starter effective May 3. Knowing Starter doesn't start until June 1 (from what you had posted in May). But I have on my Summary page my Starter for the 100 and also 50 free as a separate item. I can't even get through my Starter at 100 lol, yet there is this 50 free still sitting on my Summary page.

I thought it was a glitch in May, but it did renew itself for this month, too. So which is it? Do I have 100 for Starter AND the additional 50?

As @ztams has observed in the original post, you cannot use the 50 free insertions even though the counter shows up.

Sorry, and I just assumed that 50 amount was left over from my Basic for the month of May? This is just nuts. Am glad I am not a seller who has to use those and then get charged because eBay was wrong in the calculations? And now that I look at the OPs screenshot (which I don't know how to do) it is the same for me. Both for June and now July to August.

Free insertions never carry over from one month to the next. And a counter for 50 free insertions wouldn't be a counter for a Basic store; it's a glitch related to the non-store free insertions.

The 50 free insertions for a non-store become unavailable the very minute that you sign up for a Store subscription.

Sorry, none of this makes sense. I had a Basic Store with 250/250. I opted on May 3 to downgrade to Starter. I was told the starter wouldn't start until June 1. So then I have this extra 50 and I was never a non-store owner. So which is it. Do I have 100 or 150. I don't have the time to test what that 50 represents. So is it a glitch or not? Thanks.

And that has been running since May 3 or so? Not giving you a hard time, just want to know do I have 150 or just my 100 with the starter store. Unless I am misunderstanding. And if it is anothe glitch, I need the glitch removed from my Summary Page and how do I do that? Cause, believe me, it will run even after August 1, trust me.
