Sports Cards and Trading Cards debacle!

Someone at the top needs to know we, as sellers, are extremely frustrated and angry about the changes being made, already made. I have seen a decline in sales, assumingly because buyers cannot find what they are looking for, as well as an obvious decline in adding listings to my store. What used to take under a minute to list a card now takes several minutes. I have over 1800 cards listed! Am I suppose to go in and individually revise each one to upgrade the item specifics? This is utter and complete debauchery! I cannot even counter an offer now! Seriously considering closing my store and moving to a different platform. So frustrating!! Why change what works!! I just don't get it...

Is your sports cards allowing you to choose new or used as an item condition?  I am having issues with pokemon cards not allowing for condition to be marked as "new" anymore.  It's keeping me from updating what I have listed.  I have also noticed a very sudden decrease in card sales in the past 3 days.

Re: Sports Cards and Trading Cards debacle!

Yep, "Used" still the only option. Can't list anything, as I don't want items shown as "Used" when they're not.

I can't tell if anything I sell is being promoted. Everything says "eligible to promote", suggesting that it is not currently being promoted. If it sells, is that ad fee still applied? Yet another thing to be confused about.

So if I can't promote what I have listed, or list new items, what's there to do as a seller? Seek another medium to sell? As someone who sells basketball cards, it's the most important time of year for my store with NBA Playoffs coming up. I should be listing like crazy, instead I'm staring at my overview hoping another mess doesn't unfold.

Yes. That is exactly what they want you to do.

And right after you do that, they'll change everything again!

Re: Sports Cards and Trading Cards debacle!

Yep - this is the same problem I spent hours trying to resolve yesterday. I either have to put my items in a category that I don't want (and where people will not find it) or I have to mark my Factory Sealed boxes as "Used" for the condition. No one is going to buy a USED Factory Sealed box, that doesn't even make sense. I have a laundry list of stuff I need to post but until this mess is sorted out I can't do it.

I'm only dealing with sealed boxes, for the most part, I cannot even begin to imagine the frustration for those of us who have 1k plus listings. I have no idea why this change was implemented but it literally helps no one. Typically I try to look at eBay's decisions through a profit margin view - b/c anything and everything they do is to try and maximize the amount of money they can leech off their sellers. I'm sure in eBay corporate's minds, this change was somehow going to net them more money.

I tried updating one of my listings to the include answers to all those useless item specific questions.  I gave up.  Now I'm just sitting around hoping that maybe it will all just go away.

Re: Sports Cards and Trading Cards debacle!

Every seller affected should be starting their own post until they are so flooded with complaints and issues, they actually do something about it. I am hoping with enough noise, they revert back to the way it "was". I am all for positive change, but nothing about these changes being rolled out are positive in any way.

Re: Sports Cards and Trading Cards debacle!

And if you look at the bottom of the "new specifics" they want, you will see all of those EXACT ANSWERS that I had painstakingly put in.  Is this card graded?  Well, if it already has a grader listed, a grade and certification # you can bet your **bleep**e covered saggy balls it's graded you fckwit morons.  Who is the Player?  Oh, I don't know how about checking the title or down in the "additional" section where you dumped that exact data you fckwit morons.  I hate doing one thing more than anything else in the world:  doing the same work twice.

Re: Sports Cards and Trading Cards debacle!

This update makes 100% no sense...why do I have to go in and change over 900 listings to mark something as not graded...does it look graded?  Beyond frustrating...and changing the variation listings..now I have to go in and re-list all my variations? Come on Ebay...be better...

Why dont you just make these changes for new listings and leave the old ones alone?

Re: Sports Cards and Trading Cards debacle!

They have completely screwed up the trading card categories. I used to have a “favorites” linked directly to the baseball card category page. They’ve eliminated that, and have funneled ALL sports cards into one “trading card singles” categories. Football, baseball, etc.  Everything is now melded into one category. Makes searching for baseball-only stuff ten times harder and far more annoying. Whomever at Ebay decided to do this should be fired! At any rate, I’m done buying anything baseball card related on this worthless website. I don’t have the time for this **bleep**.

Re: Sports Cards and Trading Cards debacle!

Could not agree more! Who made the asinine decision to describe sports cards as "used?" The days of card flipping and clipping them to bicycle spokes are over! There are no "used" cards anymore!! They are either Mint, Near Mint, etc. and by the way...we already have that designation available in the listing specifics. Why would you want us to add such a horrible descriptor. Pull your head out eBay!

Re: Sports Cards and Trading Cards debacle!

110% RIGHT!  THEY ARE SCREWING US ALL WITH THIS RIDICULOUS UPDATE FOR SPORT & NON-SPORT TRADING CARDS. WHEN I GO IN TO MAKE A CHANGE IT STILL SAYS IT'S NOT RIGHT. ALSO WHATS UP WITH DESCRIBING CONDITION OF CARDS AS USED WITH NO OTHER CHOICES WHEN THEY ARE ONLY MILDLY HANDLED DIRECTLY FROM PACK OR BOX TO SLEEVE OR WHEN CARDS ARE PURCHASED ALREADY IN PROTECTIVE HOLDER FROM FACTORY. WHO THE HELL CAME UP WITH THIS IDEA OBVIOUSLY HAS NEVER WORKED WITH CARDS.
