I can understand a sponsored sellers ad keep moving to the top but I fail to understand how it is right for their ad to show up twice on the same page (in the search I did it was the first page, could be different page depending on the number of items shown in the search) This is not the first time I have notice it. That amounts to double posting of the same ad which is against Ebays rules.

I see two sponsored ad's, one right after the other(the first is the 149.99 and the 2ed is 79.99) and and down the page are the same two items. I am pulling the page up exactly as the link I posted.

Here's one I see all the time since it never sells.

This link opens to Best Match and I do not see any duplicated listings. If I change it, after opening, to price+shipping highest first this is what I see for the only PL on that page.

Thanks for taking the time to grab screenshots and search terms everyone. I was able to recreate this from my end and I've gotten it reported for further review. As I hear back I'll update this thread!

Hi everyone -
Thanks for your patience while I waited to get an update on this. I received the following information:
Currently, the de-dupe change that was implemented on Sept 5 in North America only applies to Best Match searches which in some cases is affected by advanced filters. It is common with any large change like this that we keep a small percentage of traffic in the old experience to allow us to continue to optimize and improve.
In working with them I got the impression that this is a roll out we'll continue to see expanded to less utilized search options in the future. Thanks again for tagging me on this!

Well this goes right back to the heart of the CEO's statement that he wants Ebay to be more transparent with its members. Yet again we fail that statement.
Look at the time wasted on this subject. When Ebay announced that the change would happen on or about Sept. 5th, they simply could have said it with be an XX month roll out. It's now been 3 months and we are still rolling??? How long does a roll out take normally? Plus Ebay could have also included that in the beginning it would only apply to BM search returns.
All I'm saying here is it is also EXPENSIVE for Ebay's lack of transparency. If Ebay had of been forthcoming about this, many sellers would not have even questioned the problem, spent time giving you examples, wasted our time on a thread on the subject and sent you out there spinning your wheels trying to get information for us. While I know that is your job, this particular subject would have been unnecessary to use up some of your time on when you could be working on other matters.
I've been here a long time and it continues to surprise me why Ebay self inflicts these issues on themselves and cause sellers concerns when it just is not necessary.
Just my 2 cents. I know it won't change anything. But I just had to vent a little. Certainly not at you. This is not your doing and I know that.

I got the impression
This drives me MAD.......crazy, not anger....... Why should you have to form an impression on what's going on? Why can't they TELL you??????????
What are they talking about "advanced" filters.....ones we can't see or ones buyers can't control?
Ebay made a GRAND announcement about this........definitively that only 1 listing would be shown....... as Mam says there was a DATE........now we find there are places/people that see 2........... so, of course, it's labeled another "Glitch" by ebay.........another screwup.........doesn't ANYONE at ebay understand this?

Hi @dhbookds - sorry to add to your frustration! To be clear, this isn't a glitch, or technical issue, this is the intended function. Default Best Match searches will not display the organic and promoted version of the same item.
'Advanced filters' in this context means using the advanced search tab itself, or alternate sort views (price+shipping, location, etc). Thanks!

As a fun side note, ebay has been playing an ongoing game of tag with several of the popular ad blocking extensions to avoid promoted listings being blocked. I still very regularly notice dupes in best match. Here's an example of the war on sponsored listings below.

I thing the point was that due to Ebay lack of accuracy in what they announce it is seen as a glitch or technical issue. People get upset, concerned etc. When it would be COMPLETELY unnecessary if Ebay would just be forthcoming. It is ALL avoidable. It shows a complete disrespect for our time. If this were an isolated issue, I think we would all be fine with what you found out. But because it is opposite of that it is infuriating.
I just don't get it. What possible reason could Ebay have for doing this time and time again????!?!?!?!!!

They want to monetize with promoted listings. The core demographic they are trying to attract these days HATES the notion with a passion, hence ebay has been dancing around it while they either try to secure agreements with the popular blockers to whitelist them or keep modifying the code that inserts promoted listings as they have been. Since it involves monetization don't expect a straight answer.

That isn't, wasn't the point I was speaking to. See the posts preceding that one if you'd like a better idea of what I was addressing.

If you are posting more examples. Ebay has plenty. Tyler posted a response a few posts back. So no more examples are needed. See Post 20.

Well I guess if I want to add more info to the post I started I will. Thank you
