I sell these "Cookie Kahuna" cookies. They come in 2 flavors: Original Chocolate Chip (green bag) and Chocolate Chip Pecan (red bag). At one point i had the 2 flavors listed separately, 2 listings, 2 item numbers. A while later i decided to create a variations listing with both flavors.
I kept the 2 original listings active by just changing the quantity to 0. My listings are set up so they can have a 0 quantity and the listing still remains open. They have self-renewed a few times. I was going to end the listings, i just never got around to it.
Every day when i would scan through my items for sale, the 2 original listing would still be there, one right next to the other, the green bag and the red bag.
Today as i scanned through my items for sale, i noticed one of the listings was gone. The green bag was gone. The red bag was still there. What happened to the green bag? Why would it be gone and the red bag still there?
I ended up canceling the listing for the red bag. No big deal as i was planning to cancel both original listings anyways when i got around to it. Just really curious what happened to the listing for the green bag.

I think ebay said that after 3 months, they do cancel OS listings........if it had been that long for the green one. The red one may have been listed later than the green and therefore not come upon the time limit yet.

With a Good 'Til Cancelled listing, we charge an insertion fee every 30-day period from the time you create it until all the items in the listing sell, you end the listing, or we end the listing. Fee amounts are based on the terms in effect when you create the listing and when it renews. Learn more about our standard selling fees.
If you enable the out-of-stock option, and your Good 'Til Cancelled listing has a quantity of 0 for the entire 30-day billing period, at the end of that period you may qualify for an insertion fee credit and a credit of any advanced listing upgrade fees applicable to that period. Learn more about receiving fee credits.
If your listing has a quantity of 0 for the entire 30-day billing period for 3 consecutive 30-day billing periods, we end it.

This is the way the Out Of Stock option has worked since it was introduced in 2014.

Are you all aware that even though your item is "OUT OF STOCK" and at 0 quantity, you are being CHARGED for re-insertion?
For 90 days, so do yourselves a favor, if you sell one off items, DELETE them.
