I spoke with ebay about this issue this morning - I have done a test with 7 firneds that list on ebay - several use ink frog to do their listing, several use Auctiva and several list directly on ebay not through any listing service. As of today, no matter what browser is used all of us can see any listing normally as it should appear while using a traditional desk top computer. If we look at the same listing (or any listing for that matter) on any type of laptop - the full descripiotn is not showing - just bits and pieces with a link that say "click here to read full description" and no photos until that link is clicked as well. Basically the lapstops for some reason are getting the stripped down version that would be on a mobile phone. This is a huge problem. SPoke to ebay to let them know and I am sure it has something to do with some of the active content changes - but same listings should not show differenlty on a lap top versus a desktop. I hope they can fix this issue as so many people use laptops these day. This is not a 3rd party listing service issue as it is also happening with listings that are created on ebay direclty.

Thanks horses............I see it as usual, and when I click "preview" (relative to active content) nothing changes for me..........
can't say what's going on, except that maybe they rolled out a change last nite that hasn't populated everywhere yet......

I spoke ebay have made changes but have no idea why many poepl while looking at items on laptops are see a different version- it is like they are seeing the mobile version. They said they will investgate and get back to me - probably not but this does not help an already slow time of year as far as business is concerned.

A fellow ebayer having the same issue on their laptop did a complete clear of browser history and then restarted the laptop and now his listings look the same on the laptop and the desktop - must be some sort of change they implemented last night was a problem.

Ugh - last night was maintenance - maybe this is a preview of things to come (back)?

I looked at my own listings, and all of them have the have the description button.
One helpful hint to deal with it, though: Try to write your listing so that the first 800 characters give a full description.
I use Auctiva, and when creating a listing, there is a box labeled "Mobile Item Description." This is how many characters Ebay shows in that partial description before the "show more" button. I copy my description into that box, and it lets you know if you are over the 800 character limit. I edit the description in that box to conform to that limit, and then I can be sure that no matter what Ebay is choosing to show on any particular day, that I have a complete description that will show in any scenario.
I've given up on hoping things will be consistent or make sense. I just try to work within the parameters to present my items as best I can in this environment. That said, I think this "innovation" by Ebay is not a good idea. I think a lot of people won't even notice that button. sigh.
I hope that helps!

Ebay is doing this to cut down on how much data they transmit with each view. It is an attempt to increase response speeds to mobile devises and save them money. Unfortunately it drives away customers and increases item returns by blocking what the seller wrote. Ebay doesn't even show the customer the item description if they click Buy it Now.
SAD ebay, SAD! This is a problem they already realized and are going right back to it. I hope this doesn't mean ebay is going under but why else do something you know to be a bad idea...

eBay could be running beta tests. They do it all the time.

I am not seeing any description button on your listings or any of the other persons listings. It all looks normal to me. I am on a laptop.

You're probably right.
Everything I look at is just fine. Other listings or my own, just as they should look. Sales are coming in just fine, both yesterday and this morning, so I know this isn't affecting everyone, and buyers can apparently see and purchase just fine.
