Sold a mint ipod and got 20 computer customer service and 6 customer service answers. None correct

I will never sell a no return item again. There is a dollar loss and interest loss in my opinion. Also, when shipping a perfectly mint item. The item gets returned back to me without the apple charge cord which I need and buyer still receives a full refund. I end up paying easily more than what I received in the end. Postage both ways, fees. After refund buyer never heard of an iPod cord. During the case process I received 6 different reps with six different outcomes and ways to proceed.

I guess Ebay buyer guarantee is stuff for free. I am so mad, mad, mad. 😖

There is risk selling here. Never sell an item you can't afford to lose.

The reps will say anything to get you off the phone. They are only allowed so much time per caller.

The reps aren’t there for you.  They are there to give the impression there is “management” at this company.  They are there to give the impression you have recourse.  The more “customer service” you deal with here, the more the chance you and your problem will “go away”.  Customer Service and the Chatbot do nothing and are basically wastes of time.  The customer service agents are not even empowered to help you 90% of the time, they just insulate eBay from risk.

Wait until you get lying, targeted feedback from no feedback dummy accounts, and then get to deal with a department where apparently “nobody is ever home”, the **bleep** ebay feedback “department”.  They make it easy for scammers, feedback extorters and competitors to trash you.

eBay will mire you with so many problems that cannot be solved by the resources at eBay, it’s almost comical, if it wasn’t so criminal.  It the best chance they have at “engagement”.   They keep sellers’ heads ringing with their worthlessness.

eBay is not what it used to be.  Now it is the legacy of degenerate after degenerate corporate looter clown executives pretending they are qualified to lead eBay, when they couldn’t operate an eBay store if their lives depended on it.  Their decades of scummery, and its effect on sellers, has made eBay millions, while costing sellers BILLIONS.

eBay is a “stock price”.  Sellers, buyers and employees be damned.  This is a corporate clown show.  A bunch of know nothings making superficial changes to “the message system” while jacking sellers with Promoted listings and sitting around paying themselves with stock awards.  eBay is a train wreck in real time.

Buyers can send back anything they want.  eBay does not care what is in the parcel.  The process is automated, and buyers generally get a full refund.

Actually, you are lucky you even got your IPod back.  Electronics are one of the highest fraud items on eBay.

With eBay's Money Back Guarantee, the buyer could have sent you back a box of rocks or a piece of trash or anything else and as long as tracking shows "something" was delivered to you, he will get a refund.    In this case, your buyer probably just needed a power cord for a unit he already owned and this way, he got one for free.    It's really sad that people have to act this way.

Put this buyer on your Blocked Bidder's List.

Generally speaking, any buyer can steal any item from any seller using a fraudulent dispute.

This has been true on eBay since 2008, when eBay first introduced the Money Back Guarantee for buyers.

The cold, hard truth is that eBay was not there to observe what you shipped, what the buyer received, or what the buyer returned. eBay has absolutely no way to determine who wis lying.

So rather than guess, eBay sides with the buyer because it is in eBay's interest to do so.

Now that you know this, you have to decide if the risk is worth the reward. For me, it is - I have one dispute in three years across thousands and thousands of transactions.

Correct, offering free 30 day returns can give the seller the ability to deduct up to 50% of the purchase price and cuts down on lying return reasons, read here for more details>

The story goes that when Ben Franklin was undecided as to how to proceed in a situation, he would divide a paper into two sections. Atop one, would be PRO and the other CON. Give that some thought while you mull that one should never sell any item over the Internet, IF the loss will be a burden.

eBay keeps changing how they handle a sale. Even told me yesterday that I would get 2 business days to give a partial refund. Would have time to inspect the item. Also, to call his teams number which was a general eBay computer number, if the item wasn’t sent back in mint condition as I stated and he could see in the photos I could get more than the 50 percent and get full refund. I guess it’s because I said no refunds. The buyer did ask beforehand that should I purchase because it says no refunds and then purchased a couple hours later. The unfortunate thing is I liked the device and still have a backup file of the data.

thanks for the educated response. Much appreciated
