I've hardly ever had a cancellation request until recently, and now it seems to be every other day.
Usually I haven't shipped yet which is a miracle given eBay's push to ship asap after payment, but the one tonight already shipped this morning.
How long before they start holding these against us as well when (like returns) they encourage them?

the buyers may be telling you that they changed their minds, and if so, then i agree there should be something to make them stop and think first. more importantly, i totally agree that ebay's marketing software has a big problem in the way it integrates with just-purchased items.
HOWEVER, for those buyers who claim it was a mistake...it really could be a mistake! I have been contemplating buying something when using the phone app...and my phone is so sensitive that if i shifted my hand slightly, it ended up hitting the confirm button. thankfully, i was going to buy it anyway, but it freaked me out a bit.
also, on another occasion, i was in the process of bidding on an item, and was trying to decide how much to bid. i initially entered a higher amount into the entry box on my phone and was trying to edit the number in the entry box when the overly-sensitive phone/app grabbed it and took it as an official bid!! -grrrr- thankfully, again, it worked out--the next-highest bidder did not try to do a nuclear bid, or i would have been forced to cancel.
so, in addition to my preferring not to bid or buy on the phone if i can help it... i now understand that it is more likely than before that someone can make an error of the kind that would need to be cancelled. this may be contributing to the higher cancellation numbers as more people use their phones to bid/buy.

These cancellation requests go 2 ways.
Won an auction yesteday, paid immediately.
Got an email from the seller saying something must be wrong with ebay and now he is trying to weasel out because he is not happy with the price.
Yea, right.

Thanks for your post. I, too, believe using the phone to purchase is part of the numerous cancellations. I had 2 remorse returns (not SNADs) before December. I do believe my PP notice indicated purchased by mobile. They both never bothered to hit See Script so the measurements didn't pop up.
I had the option then to only refund the item price, not the shipping. In both cases, because they at least were honest, I also refunded the original ship price (but not the buyer return ship). And thanked them for being honest.
