So, if your a buyer you can no longer request to see the item your interested in purchasing because eBay's afraid you'll buy it off site. Plus if your a seller and you provide an address to inspect the item eBay will restrict your account. Hows this going to work with cars, and big machinery, and the like?
eBay wants everyone too base their purchases on the actual description and that's it. That can create some big issues for sellers when it comes to return freight shipping. Also, how is this going to work with free pick up's. Sellers need to provide an address for the pick up, but they can still wheel an deal, the way I see it.

I just thought I would throw this in here, if anyone would care to use it. It is my saved draft of how I respond when someone asks to preview my item. I of course tweek it depending on the situation:
"Hi. Thank you for your great question. I absolutely allow people to inspect the item before they pay. I offer local pick up on all my items. This allows you to inspect your item and take it home in the same day. All you have to do is click buy it now. Do not pay online. You can then come out to inspect your item and if you are happy with it, pay cash and take it home.
I have a business location that is easy to find. Of course before you drive all the way to inspect your item, you'll want to make sure this is something you'll likely want and/or need. So, take a look at the listing and the photos. Feel free to ask any questions you may have. I answer all questions within 24 hours.
Thanks for your interest in my item!"

Perfect !!!!! And to think, everyone thought it would be so hard. Thanks for sharing.

What would happen if you typed the information on a piece of paper, scanned it, and attached it as a jpeg to the email?
Would Ebay pick it up from the jpeg?
Would be interesting to try.
Oe scan a business card.
Maybe someone that has run into this issue can try it.

Well, I am not going to be the one to try it since circumvennting the system is not in me to do, but I doubt that would be caught by the bots. While it is a clever workaround it still violates the policy.
I think we are just set to lose that portion of the business...Sad for us and not really great for Ebay in my opinion

Sellers should use some common sense and understand not all items are good fit for online marketplaces.
Live auction houses sell everything online.
There are(used to be) a lot of dealers who would list antique/primitive furniture and either ship or have local pickup - which the sellers would hold for 30-60 days so that the buyer could possibly bid on more and make one trip.
Someone just drove from Texas to PA to pick up a 351 Cleveland racing engine bought at a local auction for 200.00 and sold for 2k.
So yes, anything these days are a fit for online sales, provided the platform isn't interfering.

But what if its an 800.00 item and IPR is forced when they hit BIN even though you don't have that turned on?

The bots might flag the word cash now, due to the crack down.

This is funny because I just saw a seller who listed his phone number in his listing page just yesterday, I was going to post a screen shot of it but did not want eBay to bust the guy.

Per EBay that will have to be removed by September 2017

IPR Shouldnt come up if you have Pickup only listed as an option. At least it has not been a problem for me. Even so, Just refund. I had a buyer once pay via paypal that was doing a pickup. I just confirmed that he was picking up the item and explained that I only accept paypal for items that are being shipped. All in person pick ups are cash only. He was fine with it. Ebay still got thier end. Everyone was happy.
