Blame Mother Nature! Fires, floods and tornadoes across the land, catastrophic events out of our control. People have NO homes, therefore, internet purchases are NOT a priority! Let's hope we all make it through these extraordinary times.

Vacant homes & apartments
Huge property tax increases, & sky high rents also result in people no longer having a home for internet purchases

Thankfully (only) 94 degrees where I am, but if it's 120+ degrees outside, my #1 priority is staying cool/alive, not shopping online.
My heart goes out to the huge swaths of the USA, Europe, and more with those record setting temps.

Pay for play and broken search engines don't help either. Sorry its been so slow. Hope it picks up very soon.

TV tells us that the HEAT WAVE and RAIN STORMS are effecting 70,000,000 US people.
That leaves 250,000,000.
So, that's not it.
The economy; probably effecting 300,000,000 of the 330,000,000.
The 'buying habits' of the all important 19-49 age demographic has changed. Very few 'collect' things'. They'd rather pay their hard earned $$ on 'adventure' (if their personal economy can afford it).
That's much more of a reason.

Sales are somewhat slow off and on. International Buyers have helped a little. I just think of it as a vacation where it's always 50-60 degrees with no rain or catastrophic events where I live....rather perfect weather.
We do have a ton of tourists in the city though...more than usual this year. Once September rolls in business should pick up.

There's plenty of money and people are spending...but what people collect has really changed.

Wherever housing is in demand, I assure you corporations are there buying every property they can. This includes single family homes and apt buildings. They then jack up the rental rates to the highest levels the market can bear. Which leaves the workers of the area unable to afford to live there.
Here in America we pride ourselves on taking basic human needs and turning them into "for profit" cash fountains. It's what we do.

So I have experienced a pretty dramatic drop in sales as well as others. I am curious if any sellers are also selling on Amazon and seeing similar sluggishness on that platform as well. I am wondering if this is a ebay thing or if it is a ecommerce thing.. I have a feeling Amazon is eating our lunch over here on ebay.. what say you?

Wow... I suppose we are lucky here in the Midwest. We have people spending like crazy. On weekends stores and malls are full of people. Everyone that I know has a home. There is no fires, flooding, tornadoes, and earthquakes. Sounds like your USA is different than many.

I dont sell there now albeit I've been solicited to start now numerous times, I just prefer eBay.
There's lots of problems in our economy, many of which folks are aware of. Last week and this week I became aware of more such as Wisconsin Dairy Farmers dumping millions of gallons of Milk down the drains. Not enough workers to handle three shift, one shift to be exact as Americans dont care do the job and bunches of folks from S. America temporary Visa's expired and were not renewed. I also found out that's happening across the boards, we've lost hordes of labor including skilled labor, engineers even!
Meanwhile Canada which is not close to the US Population took lesson and they're looking at 1.5 million in new immigration over the next three years. Lesson? Yep... The US has always boomed economically due to immigration, 40% of the top Fortune 500 companies over the past 40 years were started by immigrants including eBay according to what I saw. Canada's new policy is in fact so effective the UK, Australia and now Germany have followed suit. The program said if the USA simply put in place immigration Visa's for jobs currently available by 2030 we'd added 7 TRILLION dollars into the economy here.
Instead we're not only turning em' away but expiring their Visa's and labor not done is money not made. Money not made comes full circle into costing of items and costing of living.

Wow! Hit the nail on the head. Like here in Arizona, you won’t find a Gringo working on roofs in this 110 degree weather, but our immigrants are very hard workers and they will and are paid well.

Around here, we have Walmart and a small grocery store and the only time they are busy is food stamp day.

Well I'm sure I hit the nail, there's many nails LOL!
The trades I was already aware of, we're loosing more tradesman and women than folks opting into the trades and many of them are 100,000 a year plus jobs. Electricians, plumbers, masonry on and on to the point no major construction firm or project has enough skilled trades folks to do the jobs. Weeks back on News Nation (actually balanced news, very high on the non-fake news/spin ladder) they'd a fella on who runs a not for profit training folks in the trades, guess what? Most the students are from South America as again, young American's dont want do that work and these are jobs that pay better than many many others.
I also received a personal lesson, week back we went to camp and I noticed my ladies front tires needed replacement, like now! We call Walmart, nope, 10 days, we call Monroe, nope, longer yet, Midas, nope 8 days. I call Mr. Tire and the manager is a lady and I express the urgency right? She tell's me every single place is short labor BUT she says, "Bring it on in... She'll do the work under a mechanics supervision."
So, there's the car jacked up in the parking lot getting the tires done and this lady knows her stuff about cars! We're talking and she proceeds to tell me that her dad owned a garage, uncle owned a garage, boyfriends a mechanic and that the lack of qualified mechanics are WHY the cost of car repairs have shot through the roof!
Back at camp come Saturday people gather at our site for music, cocktails and fun. I'm telling the story to fella down there along his brother and wife. Welp, he's a machinist, makes gears for auto industry and farm equipment working 12 hour days because? They can't get labor, they're turning away work, he told me the cost of the gears the company makes have skyrocketed due to lack of labor. His brother's wife, a nurse, welp they're way short to and she told me its just crazy, she wants to quit and said it's that way across the country. Her husband, manager at an auto parts store, major chain store... Tell's me the supply chain is busted and not due to China or anything else, lack of workers... Told me they are buying cheaper parts from China versus quality ones from the US and Canada because again... Lack of production, workers.
Now the program saw other night, FASCINATING view of American immigration past/present including why's and wherefores. After World War One there was a huge influx of migration to the USA and the white's of Western European descent here weren't all to jazzed about that. So government commissioned studies on eugenics and using said skewed studies stopped TONS of immigration, that's when Italians and then some in America were considered well... We won't go there. Anyways, turns out Hitler was a big fan of those studies and that's actually where "The Master Race" and all that followed in using such things about other inferiority came to pass in World War II. I was shocked!
Here's some more data, more US Citizens are dying than new births keeping up with it and that's before Covid. Women or families are not wanting have the children as much as they once did apparently and it's getting to be of great concern and goes three ways, history of mankind.
1. Women start having more children, like lots and lots of em'.
2. We start bringing in immigrants, lots and lots of em'.
or
3. The nation will fall into decline generationally as its impossible to maintain the lifestyle/wealth without population stability/growth.
Another interesting facet was immigration policy come the 1960's when the latter (1920's) went bye bye. Everyone expected Europeans to flock here but they didn't. They didn't because "White Male America" was treating minorities so poorly up to and including women! Instead, influx from South America and interestingly if it were not for that influx, our economy and military would have went down the tubes back in the 70's and 80's.
Latino's now represent 19% thereabouts of Americans as citizens. They spoke to that, a problem for white males mainly, by 2040 at current birthing rates the White American becomes the minority. Ah hah! There it is!
Now why are so many S. Americans at our border?
First, many nations were ravaged by Covid as were their economies AND by weather. Lot of these folks are skilled workers, they had jobs, they're home's and economies were ravaged. Then there is Venezuela, a nation in upheaval. Now here's the really really scary part, America is on similar path but there is hope. Young folks who inherit the land, they are coming out in droves like never before putting forth candidates and voting, 50% of all American able youth are now voting.
