Hello
So eBay just rolled out the new cheaper rate shipping option for trading cards $20 and under. This is our sweet spot for our customers. We have started using this new option a couple of days ago, but I have not seen any of the tracking numbers scanned in at the post office. I assume this is much different then our typical first class package. I just don't want to continue down this road if we might have potential problems forthcoming.
Here is the link to ebays new shipping for cards :

Any insight would help
Thanks

You may want to check with your local post office. If this looks like a standard letter or envelope to them and it's not a USPS type of label, i.e. first class package they may simply be treating it as any other type of letter and simply not scanning.
Second option is to take a couple directly to the post office and see if the agent on duty actually scans the envelopes or just places them in an outgoing tray/bin.

Sent one out Thursday, said delivered today, buyer said didnt get it and left negative feedback already, new eBayer who just started this month. This is off to a fun start.

Does this printer only work for UPS? It requires the UPS driver and says it only works with the UPS app. Will it print eBay labels for the USPS as well?
If you mean the Zebra 450, yes it will also print USPS labels. I bought a refurbished one on eBay last year and it was the smartest thing I've done in a long time. Cuts packing time way down and it prints very fast. That said, I wasn't able to load the drivers properly but after I allowed the seller to remotely access my computer, he was done in a few minutes. And no, there was no hacking while he was in there. It isn't the best for printing international labels since they are too small to read/scan, so for those I use my inkjet.
Also earlier this month I was having a problem with it feeding an extra blank one after the printed label. They walked me through how to fix it easily. If you're interested, this is a link to a similar model but I would message to see if they have the 450 (PS: I have absolutely no affiliation with them)
I can't recommend them highly enough.

How do you protect the cards from damage during shipping? Ebay says the envelope cannot be rigid.

Im having the same issue of tracking not showing anything. I sent one last week and nothing has been updated and I sent 6 more yesterday with no updates! Im worried this isnt going to end well...

When I ship now in a 5x7 manila envelope I mail it as "non machinable letter" so it doesn't go thru a machine and possibly bend the cards. I don't know if when you purchase the label this way if it's handled as non-machinable to protect the contents. I do put the cards in toploaders.

How did you determine that it was delivered? Are you able to use the tracking number at usps.com to get a Delivered status?
I looked at the FAQ on the eBay page about eBay Standard Envelope, in particular the question about whether the seller is covered against a lost item claim, and their response is rather vague:
"You are still responsible for getting the order to the buyer in good shape. However, each eBay standard envelope shipment includes a $20 shipping protection plan to help in case of lost or damaged items."
Ref: https://pages.ebay.com/seller-center/shipping/ebay-standard-envelope.html#m22_tb_a1__2
That seems to suggest that if you can prove that you shipped it properly, they will credit you up to $20 to offset your loss, as you presumably will lose an Item Not Received dispute, since the barcode mentioned above is apparently more for address sorting along the way than for Delivery Confirmation.

Post Office counter person says there is no way to scan these labels

LOL That is why I went back to the Ol' reliable First Class in a bubble mailer with working tracking! I tried this new feature & don't want the hassles until things are ironed out

That is another problem! You can put up to 3 top loaders in an envelope but it can't be rigid? Good Luck with that! I see a lot of complaints coming when USPS starts returning these back to sender for postage due or requesting postage due from the receiver!

Is that $20 shipping protection for the Buyer or Seller? Currently if any of my items don't make to destination I am out of luck & have to refund Buyer there is zero Seller protection that I know of.

They are scanned by machine, not the counter person.

To me this is how I believe the eBay standard label tracking works. You drop off your mailer at your local post office nobody there has the capability to scan for acceptance. The first time it is scanned is via sorting machine at the main postal hub & the tracking status moves to "in transit". I never saw an acceptance status like when I drop my first class envelopes off. The next status change is when it gets scanned again by a "machine" which could be another sorting facility along the transit route. The last "machine" scan is at the Destination sort facility where tracking status becomes "Delivered" even though the envelope has not been brought to the actual address by the mail carrier. This is why some Buyers are complaining that status says delivered but envelope has not been delivered to them yet. If the mail carrier can't scan these upon actual delivery then this tracking service is basically USELESS!

What was your total cost to ship an 1 ounce item ?
Is there an eBay FEE and if so, how much?
How much are you charging the BUYER for shipping?
