Has everyone seen the shipping instructions now posted on every listing?, I think we have had some bad sellers not packing properly or shipping on time & eBay is reminding everyone about the basic's of shipping properly., I know I have had some Horrific packages arrive in the past 6 months & I don't even orders very much anymore,Terrible packing, & I had to send back most of them, I also have a calendar coming supposedly by ground advantage that was shipped almost 2 weeks ago, I contacted the seller & all he responded was it's in route, No tracking was placed on the order, Why I don't know such a simple thing to do & provides some peace of mind for both buyer & seller. If this is a typical way that sellers are handling things, This is not a Good experience for sellers & reflects back on all of us.

The carrier scan was gone for several days this week but today it is back for me. Something I always look at.

One thing I have been doing lately to help ease a buyer's apprehension about packing quality is to add the following sentence to my description: "This item will be shipped in a box for best protection". I don't use it for items that will obviously be shipped in a box but rather for those items where a lazy/cheap seller might throw it in a poly bag. I want the buyer to have confidence in my ability to package the item properly.

It is not a surprise given how poorly some major retailers package their items. They are not exactly setting a good example for small sellers, or giving buyers high expectations.
I just received an expensive solid state drive from a certain major retailer...in a paper bag. Literally a paper bag, not a sturdy bubble mailer even. A paper bag. With a message on the bag bragging about how the bag was "better than a box". I also received a second shipment, with various items and a bottle of liquid soap that was dented and bleeding inside the box.
I would have sent that drive in a 6x6x5 box, in a sealed plastic bag, cocooned in bubble wrap, enough to withstand an impact from a baseball bat. I guess they can afford returns on expensive and completely destroyed items. Small sellers, probably not so much.
To paraphrase the old Avis commercials, when you are not #1, you have to try harder. MUCH harder. People who leave feedback often mention quality of packaging, in both positive and negative feedback, it is always a good idea to check feedback to check for potential packaging problems from a seller.

With your comment about major retailers poor packaging, You are correct, Amazon throws something in a box & ships it out with little or no packing material., In their defense these major retailers ship more than we could possibly even dream about & most for free,And the odds of their packages getting destroyed is low & they can handle massive amounts of returns if needed.

"Has everyone seen the shipping instructions now posted on every listing?"
No. Have looked at our own listing, both active and sold ... I mean ordered, and nothing about packing on either.
And post 5 shows a 'ebay standard envelope' popup? - never seen that and have no idea how to.
Figured out the last 'orders to ship' thing in post 5 is the overview page, which we only look at to get the 250 promo listings count.
