Shipping Costs Under Managed Payments?

I've shipped four packages since being switched to Managed Payments:  two USPS media mail, one USPS Priority Mail and one UPS Ground.

The three USPS packages where shipped with an eBay label but the shipping charges were debited from my bank account by Pay Pal.  I've been led to believe there is a way to have shipping charges immediately debited from the sale proceeds as is done with eBay seller fees.  That would be my preference since it would make my reconciliation easier.  I understand that may not be possible with UPS since they do not charge back until after delivery.

Using Seller Hub view, at Payment Options, my bank account is displayed with the note "Preferred for selling costs."  Evidently this does not apply to shipping costs.  Is there some setting I'm missing to make that debits for shipping immediate?  In another thread I was led to believe that can be done at the print label screen.  I have not seen a check box or the like at print label.  Did I miss it?  Is there some trick to this?

Next time you print a label, scroll to 'Select How to Pay' and change from PayPal to Managed Payments.  It will then remember this setting for all future labels, and your labels will be then payed from your pending payouts instead.

print just 1 label for 1 shipment and go to the bottom of the label page.

On the left side there is a box to check to take payment from pending funds.

Once you check this all future label payments will come from pending funds.

So, you're saying the option is not on the initial print label screen, rather on the screen after the label is printed?

@kosmosattik

^^^ It doesn't. I still choose to ship using PayPal (as the payment method) who debits my attached bank account.

To do this, you'd need to go to PayPal and mark the bank account (or CC, whatever) as the 'Preferred' method of payment while shopping online.

Or, you can use the method described above to pull them from your Pending funds. Good luck.

Yes, the option is on the initial purchase label screen.

Hit the button Purchase Shipping Label >> the next page is where you enter the exact weight and dimensions of your package, date of shipping.

SCROLL to the bottom of that page and you will see >> Select How To Pay .... Paying with your pending payouts OR Change to PayPal.

That's where I would have expected to see it, before printing.  I must not be scrolling far enough.  Thanks to all who replied.

Once again, if I may be permitted a rant, Help leaves off before the punch line.

I hope in the future we can use our own authorized CC, rather than use PayPal.  Now that eBay dumped PayPal for MP, it would be even better to dump PayPal for shipping labels too.

No way around the PayPal. For now... you could set your CC as your 'Preferred' method of payment while shopping online in your PayPal wallet. Shipping will be billed there, anyway... if that's a fix for now. Good luck.

So, I went through the first step of reprinting a USPS label without actually printing it.  Lo and behold, there's the option at the bottom of page--I had in fact not been scrolling far enough.  I would have expected it to be next to or below where you pick who prints the label.

If I may be permitted another rant:

If this setting is permanent after one changes from Pay Pal to eBay at label print that means the setting is invisibly embedded in the seller's account.  Why in God's name wouldn't that setting then be a field in the seller's account accessible to the seller to view and update?  Then when directing new Managed Payments sellers in the set up process this shipping cost preference could be identified as an option with a link to the page with that field just as they direct and link to the page for setting up the bank account.  Sheesh.   eBay's motto should be, "We're the world's largest trial and error marketplace."

End of this rant...or now.

One more interesting factoid:

I shipped a UPS Ground package on 7/5 with billing for shipping set to the initial Pay Pal default at screen print.  I just saw the UPS shipping charge came through today which is no surprise since they always bill back after delivery.  What is surprising is that the shipping charge was not a Pay Pal debit from my bank account as with USPS shipments--it's a debit against eBay sales proceeds pending disbursement.

eBay just payed me out this morning so now my pending sales disbursement sits at a negative number for that UPS shipping charge.  If I delete my bank account info and up and quit eBay will I be sticking them with that shipping charge?  Just kidding.

I do wonder what will happen on next Tuesday's payout date if there are no offsetting sales, a high likelihood since I don't sell that much and even less in the summer.  Instead of a payout will they dip into my bank account for that shipping charge?  It will be interesting to see.  I must admit this is too much inside baseball for any Help page.  However, that does not forgive the many, many other egregious Help omissions.
