Hi all.
I have been successfully posting and selling items on eBay up until the time that they changed the policy on PayPal, and required one’s bank account to be posted with eBay in order to buy and sell. At that point I stopped it and shortly after that eBay shut me off. I don’t understand why I can’t get paid through PayPal in the former process, and not have to go through the “registration“ process with eBay. I refused to have my personal bank information given in the registration process. I’d be interested in anyone else’s comments on that particular subject, because I know I’m not the only one who took the step. Thanks thanks

Bottom Line: If you don't sign up for Managed Payments, you can no long sell on eBay. PayPal is no longer eBay's payment processor. eBay and PayPal did not renew their contract which expired last year. It's been in the news and all over eBay's site for the last two years. And yes, many have complained, some have left, and eBay couldn't care less.
Good news, you can still use PP to buy here.

You can open a free checking account even online separate from your regular account, just for eBay.
That way they don't have access to your main bank account.
I didn't want to do it either but the process was fast & simple.

Some like you choose not to adapt to the MP process. Your choice.
I opened another checking account just for eBay MP.
PP is no longer the funds processor for many eBay sellers.
Anyone wishing to sell will be required to use the eBay MP funds processor.
PayPal is expected to cease to be the processor for all sellers by the end of 2021

To add
Next month will mark the 2 year point for me in MP. I have had no issues.
When eBay confirmed the payment I have shipped within my handling time. Hundreds of items, and never a payment failure.
My business model can handle the real world delay from buyer payment time until payment is in my checking account.

Please do a forum search - there are literally hundreds of threads about this.

Where have you been lately? The non-renewal of the contract between Ebay and PayPal has been a fact and not a secret for a few years now.
For Ebay seller's proceeds, PayPal is history - gone - done- nada - not coming back. It can only be used for buying on Ebay.
If you wish to continue selling on Ebay, you'll have to follow thru with the registration process. You don't have to use your personal account, if you don't want to. Chances are your bank can open a new account, often free of charge, for you to use only for your Ebay sales proceeds.
The vast majority of sellers here have adjusted and adapted to the new Managed Payments system that Ebay says you must use. I adapted to it very quickly, and have not lost one penny because of it. I am glad that the PayPal bureaucracy is out of the way, especially now that PayPal has announced a good-sized fee increase, I believe beginning in August.
Cheers, Duffy

@thogr-5500 This is simply a change of how a seller receives payment, that's all. Payments are now handled via another company called Adyen, which also handles payments the exact same way on Etsy. The contract between PayPal was not renewed so that is no longer an option.
That's all there is to it. Either you open a bank account or you don't, but you will no longer be able to sell on this platform if you don't. Most of us opened a new checking account for this reason. Best of luck to you....

Because Pay Pal will no longer be processing the payments for Ebay.
Ebay decided to go with Adyen and they require a checking account to deposit your funds.

You cannot get paid without a bank account to put your money in. Are you suggesting they mail you a monthly check so you can make your own deposit ?

To add .
PayPal is raising their fees.
So there's that ...

Most sellers have already been registered in managed payments, and it's working OK for them. They may not have liked it, but they complied so they could keep on selling.
As of last month (June 2021) eBay reported that more than 85% of all transactions on eBay.com were going through managed payments. Since then, they have started enrolling and activating a lot of global sellers, who are based in other countries (like Israel, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, Japan, etc.) and who are listing on the major eBay sites (.com, .co.uk, .de etc.) So by now, it will be even more than 85%. They are accelerating the process, it appears.
So no, you're not the only one. But you're not in the majority.
eBay and the sellers in managed payments will carry on.
