hi all,
I see these links that I was unaware of until today, in the "Manage all orders" section. (last column). Could someone tell me what these do and if anyone has a sample of how they look can someone send it out?
I read in another thread that this does not reduce the listing price of the items that the seller has for sale, so does eBay pay for the difference?
Do i get the same amount in proceeds (net of ebay fees) that I would have received without sending out the coupon?
Does ebay increase the seller fee so the that the net is less?
How much are the coupons typically, a 5% discount or something like that?
If the above is true, is the general recommendation to just send the coupons out to all of our customers?
Any responses greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I think you are confused about something. Sometimes ebay provides coupons to buyers. So, for example, an ebay coupon offering ten percent off your $100 item means the buyer only pays $90.00...but you get the full $100.00 because ebay's ad budget picks up the additional ten dollars.
But these coupons you are talking about are SELLER provided coupons. If you offer a 10% off coupon to your buyer, that 10% is coming out of YOUR pocket, not ebay's.

if you create coupon you can then send them you buyers, can create different kinds private or public, different amounts etc... just keep in mind, ebay gave every option but to limit the coupons to only certain buyers, so if you send them and those coupon codes get shared anyone can use them...keep the "expiration date" on them controlled.
And it only gets worse since that conclusion...

We've done them twice and only had 1 buyer want to use it and then they cancelled their order after all. So for us, has not really caught on.
I was thinking about using them more once the holiday season is underway to draw some repeat buyers potentially. Probably need to do a couple more myself so I get this figured out a little better. If I already have the item on sale, applying a coupon to it was not exactly what I had in mind, but I am pretty sure the way I set it up, it would have.
Good luck!

But who "absorbs" the cost of the coupon? If i create a 10% coupon do i receive 10% less on my selling price?
If i click the link "Send coupon" will i go into some kind of editor to create the coupon? I don't want to send it out without knowing how it works especially on the selling price/revenue side of things.
thanks again.

Same, we had sent them out several times, no one used them, and the buyers who are repeat customers ordered without using them... so idk how much of a spark they will give next to just running a markdown sale...which we have been doing every week for the past month "Flash Sales" - but coupons cannot be used with any other discount, so if you have a sale going on the chances ebay lets the buyer use the code will likely be zilch.
And it only gets worse since that conclusion...

Well no, Like @my-cottage-books-and-antiques explained, these are Seller Generate Coupons, not Ebay coupons that they may send to buyers time to time. Any discount you create comes off your sale price, so if you create coupons for 5% - 10% - 70% that cost is on you and buyers pays that amount less on your sale price, ebay deducts the coupon + the normal fees + transaction fee and shipping (if buyer pays) and what is left is yours.
Also no, like I said, you have to create a coupon first, that is done through > Seller Hub > Marketing tab > Promotions > Right Hand Side Top of Page > "Create A Promotion" drop down tab > Coupon (NEW) > from there choose what type of coupon wish to create, it's not limited to one coupon or one item either, you can create coupons where buyer buys 5 (or whatever amount) gets 1 (or xxx) at reduced price etc.. BUT - like I said, ebay did everything but allowed sellers to assign coupon to specific buyers usernames - so ANY coupon you create that code can be shared to and by anyone and anyone can use it. So if you create one keep caution to the expiration date you choose for it or only do it with stocks you have the quantity for.
And it only gets worse since that conclusion...

This is very helpful, especially on how to create the coupons.
Thanks for the quick responses.

My question is when as a seller I offer coupon and buyer uses coupon and saves on amount of coupon. Do I still pay for the full price in fees of sold item. As as seller am I eating the coupon and the fees of full price of sale item. Does it matter if coupon is used on a won auction or a item that buy it now but not paid for. Just curious if ebay still gets the full fees of sale price before coupon is used on purchased items. Thanks

If I'm running a store sale of 20% off and I send a repeat customer a coupon for 30% off, will the repeat customer be able to use the coupon and the store discount together? For instance; My store is on sale for 20% off. I've sent my repeat buyers a 30% off coupon. Will they be able to "stack" the discounts and get a $100 item for $54 (20%+30% off)or $50 (50% off) or will they only get the 30% off?

No... coupons cannot be combined with any other offer, it's in the fine print, click the "see details" on the coupon it tells you. Also, if you sent coupons already within past month or so, you cannot send another.

Are you using Markdown Manager for the "sale"? In that case, the answer is "YES, they are stackable."
"Coded coupons are not stackable with other promotions such as Order Discount and Volume Pricing. If several promotions are running concurrently on an item, buyers get the best discount. However, the coupons do stack with markdowns. If an item has a Best Offer or Seller Initiated Offer, the offer takes priority, and the coupon cannot be applied."
Source: https://www.ebay.com/sellercenter/growth/seller-hub-promotions/coded-coupons
If you want to do a sale and send a private coupon that does NOT stack, run a public coded coupon sale instead of Markdown Manager, and send a private coded coupon. Your buyer can then choose to use either coupon, but not both.
If you really want to give your buyer an incentive, create a markdown manager sale and send a private coupon, noting that the items are on sale and the buyer CAN apply the coupon to the sale---make it sound like an exclusive deal for a select set of buyers. However, obviously you need to create discounts that still leave you with acceptable margins.
