Selling on eBay

I just started selling on eBay May 27, 2021. I only have 10 items listed and I have “sold” 5 items, 2 of them twice. The first and second buyers of the one item never paid. And now I’m on my second item having the same out come. Is this normal or am I cursed? Oh and the other three items have not been paid for yet either and I have tried to contact all buyers and no responses.

Re: Selling on eBay

I see you list some with auctions, some buy it now. Remove all best offers and do not take offers, listing all items with 'buy it now' and checkmark the box that says 'immediate payment required'. This will stop that...and yes, it is somewhat common for 'offers' to come in, you accept, then buyers don't pay.

^ This. I stopped putting offers on my buy it now items. Although my items tend to attract a very specific clientele that are generally not flaky, times have changed and the flakiness/scam levels are at a pretty high level. Immediate payment is not a guarantee that you will not have issues but it helps...a lot.

Re: Selling on eBay

Looking at your selling history I see 7 sales, all of them via Best Offer.

Just to be sure ....

When you say that none of your buyers have paid - where are you looking for payment?

You are enrolled in Managed Payments.

Are you checking your Seller Hub / Orders, or All Selling / Sold page, to see if you were paid for any of the items?

How to handle non-payment for items sold:

Re: Selling on eBay

Ok,

As others said do make sure to check if payment actually has been made.

Do not send offers out to buyers until you've established about 15 good ratings.

Any offers coming in MAKE SURE to look at their feedback ratings, if they are "zero" its some sort of sham.  I've no idea why,  I've helped four people start to sell at eBay over the past year and every single one of them has had the same thing happen.  They'll get offers on items from accounts that have zero or one feedback and never get paid, over and over and over UNTIL they get about 15 ratings.  It's almost like there is some piece of automated software out there creating accounts and doing this, no clue as to why.

Often if you look at the prospect buyers account you'll see that the account was created very recently, almost ALWAYS having zero feedbacks.

Its sad, no clue why its happening.  Happened to me too when I first got at it perhaps a year ago.  Its sad in that its like, "Wow! Look at all these sales," and ya' get all excited and then find out its some sort of horse hockey going on.
