Re: Selling help

Not trying to be rude, but your photos could use some work.   You're selling in very crowded categories with a lot of competition, and you have to get the buyer's eye NOW - they're not going to squint to see what you've got.  Selling on here is very visual.  So, that's my suggestion.

Re: Selling help

Hi and welcome. I took a look at your listings and had a few thoughts. What you are experiencing is common enough with new sellers that there is a theory that eBay may give new sellers a boost in visibility when they first start listing to help get them established. It is just a theory, but there are several ways to get and maintain good Search placement and to bolster sales.

One thing I noticed overall is a lack of keywords in your titles. For example, take the listing for "Harley Davidson T-Shirt Graceland Memphis Tennessee". What size is it? What color? Is it a Man's or Woman's or Unisex or Child's? Why isn't the word "Elvis" included? Even tho some of this info is in your Item Specifics and Description fields, it also needs to appear in your titles.

A second example is "Lot of 30 Rings" . Are these Costume jewelry or Bubble gum prize or Fine Jewelry? What is the metal color? Are they multiple sizes? What styles? What material--are they Sterling Silver or Pewter or Gold Filled? There is no information about anything, why should I click on it? There's no close up shots. No detailed photos. Just one picture and a 4-word title. No details equals no sales.

The same issue exists with this title: "Lot of 2 Golden Gate Casino". What is it you are selling? From that picture, I can't tell what it is. There are people that collect hotel sewing kits. There are those who collect casino memorabilia. So those keywords need to be included. What era or year is it from? It says Lot of 2, yet there is only one item shown in the pictures. Both items need to be shown, in detail.

You need the shopper to click on your listing thumbnail, and an absence of information can cause your listing to get passed on by. All they get to see initially is the title, price, and picture. Those three things need to entice a viewer into becoming a buyer interested enough in your item to open the listing. Title keywords serve an important purpose in gaining SEO. Below is a link to how to increase traffic to your listings thru Search Engine Optimization. I think you will find it helpful.

eBay gives better search placement to sellers who offer the listing elements that it deems important, its Best Practices. Things like one-day handling, a buyer-friendly return policy, and free shipping can give you a boost in Search results. These terms may not be your cup of tea yet, but at the least, should to be considered when examining one's overall strategy.

Since you are selling tee shirts, make sure to hang them straight on the hanger, against a white or neutral background, nothing else in the shot. Iron or smooth out the wrinkles before photographing so the graphics are clear to see. eBay looks at the quality of the listing, not just quantity. So rather than churning out listings, spend some time on presentation and completeness of information.

You have made a strong start and now your listings need tweaking to be the best they can be. Good luck and wish you much continued success.

Re: Selling help

A lot of your pictures are really dark, you could use better lighting. An easy fix is to use a graphics editing program to increase the brightness of the pictures so they're more easily viewable. I've been doing this for years myself.

Re: Selling help

The first listing of your I saw was a Sports Titanium Necklace Red White Black 21".

  • The picture is blurry
  • It is unbranded
  • It says "New" but the description only says "Good condition"
  • The description states that comes from a smoking home
  • The shipping cost is way too high (UT to NH = $11.60 ??)
  • Total cost is $19.60

I can get a branded version of essentially the same item from USA sellers starting at $4.99 with free shipping.

There is absolutely nothing about your listing that gives it an edge over better, cheaper options.

Re: Selling help

Ebay allows up to 12 photos per listing.  Even on your listings with numerous items, I seldom found more than one photo.  People like to see close-ups and different angles of what they are buying.  Also, it's "quartz" not "quarts" on your watches.

Re: Selling help

A few things:

-pictures need major improvement

-item descriptions are rough - a major

turn off is the disclaimer that the items are

from a smoker’s home

-shipping costs seem extremely high

-you don’t accept returns

Re: Selling help

It truly is because no one wants your items at this price, right now. That is the truth. Not being rude, just real.

Re: Selling help

This is just an observation:  I commend you for disclosing that your items come from a home with tobacco smokers and pets.  But since fewer than 15% of Americans smoke, that does limit your potential buyers by a fair number.  I'm not suggesting you get rid of your smokers or your pets, or your disclosure about them.  I'm just pointing out the statistical limitation they create.    (Neither one happen to bother me, although I don't myself smoke or have pets.)

As others have said, better photos and more of them would be a big boost, as would better and more detailed titles.

It's a tough market right now, but hang in there and good luck to you.

Re: Selling help

You've gotten good advice. I'd like to add your "untested" watches means they're  not working and you haven't tried to see if it only needs a battery or a new movement, right?  So you should list them parts or not working.

Pre-owned is used and used can show signs of wear but it must function as intended.

Re: Selling help

Your shipping cost are all over the place. You have some things selling for $1 with $15 shipping. You have some things selling for $50 with $4 shipping. Some of those items can take a while to find the right buyer, you have to wait it out unless you start lowering prices. Your T-shirts with shipping is a little high as most people are not going to pay $25 for a used T-shirt.

Re: Selling help

As a buyer I would buy the old timer knife; but I not going to pay $10.15 for shipping you need to work on your shipping cost. Buyers really look at shipping cost.

Okay what do you suggest I do because I have been screwed on shipping before and cannot afford that?
