Times have changed.. I was very disappointed when I recently sold an item for 1475 Inc postage... only to receive 1270 back from eBay... 13.5% is way too high for my liking. In future I will take my business elsewhere!!

And you will pay the same in fees, maybe more.

Hi @wbdesigns
Where will you go that charges less in fees? Don't you think that eBay sellers would be leaving in droves if there were such a place?

How do you know that they are not leaving!

Perhaps use this as a lesson to look up what the selling fees are on a site prior to listing something for sell.

OK, good luck finding as much traffic for a lower cost to sell. Bye

Because both the fees and the visibility are much worse elsewhere. Were you not aware of the fee structure here before listing? How much difference was there compared to your sales of past years?

I'd love to sell with zero fees, but all I can do is price my items to cover them.

OK, happy trails, then.

Actually the fees are pretty much the same, as you no longer have Paypal fees.

In person flea-markets are not all that cheap either. Worse, they don't have the buyer traffic. Many of the people walking around are just the other sellers.

You have been here for 20 years and the last feedback you received as a seller (on this ID) was over a year ago.
Nonetheless, if you wanted $1475 for what you sold then you should have listed it at $1675 in order to clear $1475. See, that's the way retail works. You add up ALL your costs and set your selling price accordingly to net what you want. Now if you feel it is impossible to sell at $1675 then you should find something else to sell.
I factor my FVF into the selling price of everything I offer and I have no problem making sales. Probably because my worthy competition is doing the same thing so neither one of us are undercutting the other.

There are lots of alternatives out there, some that charge less fees, some that charge more. I have diversified across multiple forums simply because there are some forums that are more focused on a single product line like comic books, coins, toys, etc. I was also kind of forced by eBay to find alternatives every time they expanded their prohibited items list. These days I sell less than 20% of my merchandise on eBay which is way down from the 80-90% it used to be many years ago. I still find it to be a viable platform but competition has changed the landscape.
While I cannot name specific sites in this forum it is not hard to find alternatives.

Here to see you go and watch out for that swinging door.
