Hello - I'm selling a brand new ATV/Quad for $3150.00 (local pickup in San Diego, CA) and am wondering what eBay fees will be? Another post suggested 2.9%. That's only about $90 - is that correct? It appears we are to require a non-refundable deposit on PayPal (suggested $500) and then when we meet up with the buyer for inspection, they give us remaining monies in CASH and we provide the registration/title. Curious if the $90 fee is accurate (the post in 'help' was from 2016). We are not a company, just selling our ATV we won't be able to use, and it's brand new. Also, do we do a 'classified ad'? Or is that just for companies who sell a lot. Likely a regular listing and add 'or best offer' button. I've looked on the selling 'help' pages but still have these questions - hoping someone can clarify the above. Thanks so much!

You list it under ebay motors.
Is it new new? Or big bang new?
Did you ever use it? Put gas in the tank, take it out for a test drive? Then it's not new. List it honestly.

I’m not sure as eBay motor fees are set up differently than the rest of eBay sales. You should be able to find more info here….

The fees on vehicles are different than most other listings. The following should give you an idea of the insertion fee cost. While I do not believe there is a traditional FVF there is a deposit process fee of 2.8% + .30

Since this is a local pickup item you may be better off trying a local online forum/venue that does not have a cost associated with it prior to listing it on eBay.

Yes, It's new. Straight off the trailer that delivered it to our driveway. It's only been 'moved' about 50 feet to the back yard. (Yep, I'll disclose that.)

Thanks - yes, looking into that as well. Just checking all options. Appreciate your reply - I've successfully sold on eBay some large items, but never a 'motor vehicle' and curious about costs. (Something I just sold for $385 had a $55 eBay fee and thought that was pricey, thus inquiring about this.)

Thanks for the info - appreciate it.
I came up with about $90 fees and think there's more to it than that... will dig a little further.

Besides the ebay and DMV fees if you close the sale after December 31st 2021 you will be getting a 1099K form for your 2022 taxes. Oh boy! Last time I sold an ATV it was off a trailer at a guys driveway cash in hand thank you very much. $5,600 very helpful dollars those were.

DMV fees probably vary from state to state. I am in Virginia and the buyer is the one that ends up paying the DMV fees when they go to get the title transferred. The DMV also collects the sales tax.

It is a flat rate to list a Vehicle in Ebay Motors ($25 or $55 for Premium).
Deposits for 'buy it now' of up to $500 (max that can be charged)- costs 2.9% plus .30c
Cost for successfully selling a vehicle is $0
Classified is better for car dealers; Private Party best to do as Buy It Now with Immediate Deposit Required (stops the flakes)

The eBay fees in other categories are vastly different than those for eBay Motors. You can't judge the fees in one category as related to those in another.

You should go by the special rates for motors categories, that are shown in the page linked in post #3.
Your estimate of 2.9% is completely off -- that's the old rate for just the PayPal portion of the fees, not at all what eBay charges.
I agree with the posters who suggested that eBay might not be the best venue for this transaction.

Yes, I heard about the change in eBay with this. Oh boy is right ;o).
