Sellers should learn not to say NO.

I need six  1" glass marbles for a project.

I came across a listing for 2 pounds of 1" glass marbles for $23.99 with free shipping.

I'm not sure how many marbles are in 2 pounds but i'm sure t's way more than i need.

I messaged the seller and explained how i only need 6 marbles. If he would be willing to sell me 6,  let me know how much.

The seller replied with "sorry such a small amount is not cost worthy for me to sell".  Why would he say that without knowing how much i'm willing to pay for 6 of them?  Why not make me an offer?  6 marbles for $5 or 6 marbles for $10 or 6 marbles for $20 ... whatever he thinks is worth his time and effort?   But to just say "NO" is very poor business sense in my opinion.

"Sellers should learn not to say NO."

True because I simply ignore any offer that doesn't benefit me.

Seller was polite enough to respond to your request...

Some rules are very  silly  indeed . Speaking of those elegant  first class  burger joints though  . Okay it was girls night out  so me and a few friends went to our favorite sports bar one Saturday night . At 2 A.M  closing time  we decided  not to take our car  but instead just walk to the  fast food place  that was in the same parking lot . Their front door was closed so we went through the drive thru  on foot ,, placed our order at that talkie thing[ hic!]   and then walked up to the window  to pay. They refused to sell us anything after they seen we weren't in a car . What was the difference? Go figure.   Tulips

What part of drive thru were you too drunk to understand? lol

Re: Sellers should learn not to say NO.

I wonder if Dollar Tree would let this potential buyer open and sort through 20 or 30 bags of marbles to pick out just what they wanted and make a custom bag?  It would probably be okay as long as they didn't have to have one of their employees come over and do the sorting.  If you don't count the time it took to order, stock, and advertise the ones they have, it shouldn't take over 7 seconds to get it done.  They should also lower the price by at least 50% now that it is an open bag and no one else will want the marbles. Still, they made a $1 sale and have a contented and satisfied customer who will surely come back for more custom items. Stock will go up, bonuses will be paid, and all is well.

On one of my IDs I sell a low cost repeatable item that involves some artistry on my part.  I get buyers all the time that want me to customize my items for them and still expect to pay my same price for it, like they are doing me some sort of favor.  When I tell then that I charge a $60.00 per hour graphic's artist charge and their customization will take about 2 to 3 hours, they exhibit some of the same attitudes as we've seen in this thread... Like I'm missing out on some new way of generating sales or something.

Do you ever get people telling you that you should give them art for free in return for "exposure"?  I've heard artists love those, lol.

There are actually signs that say they will not take walk up traffic.  It is for the safety of the workers.

It's more for customer safety. Say a group of drunk women walk up, and a drunk driver came through, and hit the drunks on foot....Plus the restaurant doesn't want to deal with the lawsuit that's sure to follow

dhbookds is right.  Establishments with drive thrus are often prohibited by their insurance from serving those who walk up.  Increased possibility of an accident to the person on foot should the next person driving up not see them or not be in control of their vehicle is the valid consideration for this policy~and the person walking up is not in their car, and thus vulnerable.

Ran out of edit time

So insurance doesn't cover pedestrians using the drive thru, and if something happens, they won't pay a claim.  The establishment doesn't want to deal with a claim because that is what they have insurance for.

Thus no pedestrian service at drive thrus.

That's true but there may be no need to do so since there are so many marble listings on Ebay.

Do what people did in the prehistoric days of Ebay:  Buy the entire lot, then sell back what you don't need on Ebay.  Unless you don't think they will sell...

Re: Sellers should learn not to say NO.

I had a recent request. Out of the lot of rubber stamps I got listed, "can you bundle up only the ones from XXXXX brand, and I will pay you $12".

Sure enough, I would go to find that lot, dig into the bunch of stamps, and find the ones this buyer wanted for.....well, after paying shipping and fees, $2...…….Not worth my time. Smiley Mad

Re: Sellers should learn not to say NO.

I simply refuse to use Michaels, I asked the manager of my local branch to move the main entrance 3 feet to the left (my personal feng shui reasons) he flat out refused my reasonable request, I reported him and I have never heard back from them.
