Since other threads regarding this have gone off track, I just want to make sure everyone takes note of the Fall Update:
Starting September 10, 2018, you will be required to upload tracking in the structured data field before the estimated delivery date has passed in order to appeal an "item not received" claim. eBay will not protect you from a claim if you send the tracking number to the buyer via email.
Long story short: if you fail to upload tracking before the Estimated Delivery Date passes and buyer insists he did not receive your order, you will lose the claim no matter what your tracking says.

I agree, ebay sends out those messages, which are more than enough for me. I sure don't need duplicates. If a seller doesn't use tracking or send me any information, I'm still fine --- unless my package doesn't show.

Yeah if they don’t upload tracking I’m fine but it sure makes my life easier when they do and I definitely prefer it. And I would definitely pay more from a seller if I knew they offered providing it over a seller who’s says they won’t

Same. In the case of sellers using USPS, signing up for informed delivery takes it a steo further because if the seller hasn't upload tracking, you'll know when your package is being delivered regardless. You can see your incoming packages and make alternate delivery arrangements. I've had issues with ebay showing tracking info on my purchases so I don't even use ebay to track anyore, I use informed delivery.

And while you may like that email, there are buyers out there who would slam you into the middle of next week for what they consider "extraneous garbage" in their inboxes.

While I don’t like getting the extra messages like the reason I don’t is because when the seller uploads tracking I already get that information. But if the seller isn’t uploading tracking it wouldn’t annoy me as much but I would prefer just a simple upload of the tracking so I can just follow and know what to expect on my own
Where do you get that message? Do you mean the bell at the top of myebay.
Yes, the last message I got informed the seller mailed my package, almost a week after I actually received it.

To some.
All that type want or need to know is that it shipped and when to expect it.

Newbies do not always know where to find that information. And then some panic when they think their money just went down a hole.
Older folks like me love the personalized service. That is why we shop Nordstrom.
As for the rest, do they buy that much on here that their boxes are cluttered with a simple friendly email updating them on their packageand it will send them into a tizzy?
I have worked retail. I have sold here 19 years. I have bought a lot over those years. JMO, but buyers would rather the information come to then then having to seek it out. And most buyers do want to feel a little appreciated for their business, whether they admit it or not. There shouldn’t be any finding that information I automatically get an email when my item ships. I also get an email when my item shows delivered. As long as tracking is uploaded eBay makes sure to send all the notices I need
I do not get any emails telling me when a package is tracked or shipped.
Just a notification near the bell at the top of ebay, which often lags way beyond to the point you already received the package.

I get an email saying it’s shipped and I get an email saying it’s delivered. The app also gives me pop up notifications but I know not everyone uses the app. The emails telling me the item is shipped have so far have always been the same day the tracking is available and the delivery email the same day the item was delivered. A few of the delivery emails have literally be within the same hour as the item was delivered pretty cool really

An app?
I am older, not computer savy, and do not have that.
So for me that is why I appreciate the seller's update.

Pretty much 🙂
I know when I have purchase something.
If the tracking has been uploaded, I know how to follow it.
USPS "informed delivery" shows when my item has arrived at the PO. It shows when it is "out for delivery", and a 2 hour window within which I might expect delivery based on the carriers "historical delivery time".
Shows all expected tracked deliveries, so if my wife is getting 4, and I am getting 1 we do not need 5/10 emails from sellers.
USPS "informed delivery" sends me an email when tracking has been scanned delivered. No need to watch out the window, or run out to the box in the rain too look.

Yes I said the app notifies me too and said I know not all use the app which is why I specifically mentioned I get emails about it as well. Same places in messages a seller sends me go. I don’t know why you wouldn’t get them. I’ve never messed with my notification settings. Like I say I love the emails eBay sends with the item shipped notification and delivered notification. They have been accurate so far on timing.

Again, where is your mail box in relation to your house?
Against it, mail slot?
Not all of us have that.

Never knew it existed probably.
Like I said, I am older, not computer savy and am used to doing things the old fashioned way. And that is the one thing from ebay past that I miss. - contact between buyer and seller. Some are still cyber friends today.

no I'm saying I don't know why you don't get the emails notifying you of delivery. Forget the app I know not everyone uses it I was just mentioning it an ADDITIONAL way I also get notified. The emails that notify me were my main point I was making. I've never messed with my notifcation settings in ebay and I've been getting emails any time an item is shipped and when its delivered. I decided to go look at my notification settings and it is set to send an email in real time to notify me of shipping and delivery. Since I've never messed with my notifcations that would have to be ebays default notifcations which is why I don't understand why you wouldn't receive the same emails. Getting an email that notifys me doesn't require me to be tech savy...trust me I'm not. I get the nofication the same way I get emails from sellers.

I get emails from ebay letting me know when they are having one of their sales and extra ebay bucks offers.
I also get notifications on my seller account for the various promos they are having.
And that is it.
Probably why I did not realize some are getting inundated with ebay messages, because I get very few.
But since the above is all I really need, I am not going to mess with my settings.
I sense that I am dealing with an older crowd. So no one has told me yet my emails are annoying. In facct, I get thanks yous for the heads up and keeping them informed.

Don't you get that email from ebay that automatically goes out as soon as the seller prints the label---the one with the annoying verbiage saying your item shipped? I don't even want that one, since the tracking number shows on the item, and if I need to check it I can easily find that.

I get the message near the bell that my item has shipped.
And like I already said, my last one came almost a week after I had already received it.
