Sellers feedback

OK so I just recently sold a proof quarter to a just wonderfully pleasant KAREN, oh sorry her name is **** and don't wanna throw her under the bus until I am able to my own way, but anyways she bought a 9.00 proof quarter off of Me with free shipping, she recieves it, no problem but there is a hand written .46c on the envelope which doesn't make sense anyway, because the shipping was .69 for me ebay shipping and 1 quarter in a plastic sleeve attached to a shipping page doesn't even come to 1oz I've weighed it a few times since I got my scale now.... but she posts negative feedback by saying she had to cover the .46 cents which her message to me also states she didn't care about it and when I responded I said contact your local post office or ebay and she states I was blaming her and gave me neg feedback, and also stated people dealing with me will get a medical disease and ebay told me now twice on the phone they would remove it and they haven't what can I do, because is that not defamation of character stating something like getting a medical disease if they deal with me and ebay is in my view allowing a physical impossibility to continue so, I mean what if anything can I do from here?

Re: Sellers feedback

If I was your buyer I would pay the 46 cents and either forget about it  or contact you to refund the 46 cents.

On a $9.00 purchase 46 cents is nothing to me but others make a big deal out of it.

Re: Sellers feedback

People can be awful petty.   All this for pennies.

I would (hopefully) yawn and move on.

I kind of agree with OP on one matter though.

If a snarky reply on a fb will prevent another Karen later on from purchasing and making my life more difficult than it needs to be, that is a good thing.  And, I am the queen of 'snark'.

I believe in preventing problems whenever possible,  I am at a point in my life where 'easy' is my motto.   I would rather miss a sale with a $2 profit margin, that try to please someone that  can't be pleased.

For that reason I cancel and block for very little reason.  Who needs the crap?

My block list is extensive.

But, if someone sees my snarky response, and thinks, "Oh, I don't want to shop here.  They're not willing to put up with my sh*t.  I need to find someone I can bully ..."

Yea -- keep your $2 and move along.

Having said that, OP needs to polish his writing skills and proofread carefully before posting his feedback responses.

I try to cogently explain my position, then clearly tell them not to come back to my store again.
Did it the same way when I owned a B&M store.

"I really think you'd be happier shopping somewhere else.  I know I would.  You are the kind of customer my competition deserves.  Buh bye."

Nah, buyer states that if someone enjoys hemorrhoids, they’ll like this seller, as in the buying experience is as enjoyable as having hemorrhoids.

And why would I need to make sales?

And do you really feel this way? If you sell a sterling silver plate for 100 dollars how do you feel? Do you feel accomplished or used? Some food for thought.

Hmmm unable to respond to questions or don't want to respond is more like it.
Asking to send questions on facebook? Sounds like off eBay transactions to me.

Not sure what kind of accusation that is but basically anything you have against my facebook content is simple misogyny plain and simple. People await you in the kingdom of heaven, where there is empathy & love. Check the prices on some auction sites. I live with my mother and I don't go outside of the house. I enjoy my life, I have lots of friends who care about me, my well being, my financial state.

The point there was not your Facebook content (whatever that may be) but the fact that you are soliciting off-Ebay contact which is a significant policy violation.

The part that puzzled me was your claim that you are 'unable to respond to questions about item dimensions'. That is a fundamental part of selling on Ebay - plus some of your listings do have dimensions given anyway - so I cannot see why you would make that statement.

You would do well to think before you post a reply.  I found them to be shockingly unprofessional.

Re: Sellers feedback

Looking at your fb you may want to do a few things to avoid negs in the future.

Make sure that you have everything complete and in good condition for items listed. This will alleviate your out of stock or damaged issue

Get a scale that is calibrated correctly, and the right packaging for your items, so you do not have shipping issues. If the USPS considers your envelope a "package" rather than an envelope, it will charge your customer on delivery.  It will also charge for underpaid items.

Consider how you respond to fb. You are including it for future buyers to see; not your current one. Maybe wait a day or two before responding too, so you aren't doing it with riled up emotions.

Good luck to you.

That's obviously not why you are here.

I never cease to be amazed at the lengths people go to be dishonest and manipulative.

Misogyny?  😅

Your game is so transparent: directing eBay buyers to your FB account to see what awaits.

To what end, one can only imagine.

Re: Sellers feedback

The negative feedback could have been avoided if you would have just told the buyer you will give them the 46 cents in refund for the postage due and apologize for the error in postage and inconvenience it cause them and you would make sure it's correct next time. Issue the refund and be done with it. Resolve the issue with the buyer to avoid negative feedback. As far as the feedback you reported it and let Ebay handle it. Coming back with you would sue for defamation of character is just being hostile and buyers will think twice before they deal with you. You are running a business. Be professional. You are going to get buyers who are upset. Just try your very best to make it not escalate. This situation escalated.

Re: Sellers feedback

I would not worry about it.  Anyone with any common sense can see it was an emotion based post and knows that additional shipping is charged to the shipper not the receiver.  I know that most everyone I associate with, skim right over rating reviews like that after the first sentence or two.  I have had people flat out threaten me in emails because of issues with the carriers, or not reading the descriptions fully.  Thankfully, so far they have not left a negative review as I have very very few customers leave a review at all, a single one would drop me way down.  I would actually like some advice on getting customers to leave reviews, as simply requesting it in an email a couple days after they receive the item is not working.  And one review I keep expecting where a customer, 75+ days after receiving their package emailed complaining about damage and missing parts.  I keep telling them they are free to make a return and I will accept it after I get the item back regardless of its condition.  But so far all they want is me to send them my home address and personal email.  And it takes them weeks or months to respond to any emails I send them.

@katiescloset2011

I recommend waiting until you have more ebay experience before offering this type of (bad) advice.

Yes, a buyer will see an "emotion based post" but they will also likely hit the "back" button and choose a different seller after they see a seller who has a meltdown, attacks the buyer for his own wrongdoing (honest mistake or not) and claims to have filed a "defamation" lawsuit over a negative feedback!

As for your comment of "Anyone with any common sense knows that additional shipping is charged to the shipper not the receiver," although that's what was supposed to happen, it didn't happen in this case and the buyer was hit with a postage due charge.

This is another mistake you're making as a newbie. Never ask a buyer to leave feedback. I've seen way too many negs with "here's the feedback you've been bugging me for."

Feedback is optional and many buyers either just don't leave it at all or they only leave it if they're 100% satisfied. They don't want to ding you for their unhappiness so they leave no feedback, however your pleading for it might backfire.

This is yet another tactic they're using because they see that you're new and hope you'll respond. Clearly, they're correct in their guess that you'll send them what they ask for. Eventually, it'll lead to them scamming you.

Re: Sellers feedback

Wow, thanks for such great (bad) advice and support.  🙄  Way to be a great 'mentor'. Just because I am new on eBay, does not mean I am inexperienced in operating my store.  I only branched out to here when local desires for certain products changed and I needed to move some older inventory.  And since have began using it to move products my local customers have little to no desire in, but on a broad spectrum I still find customers regularly.  But again, thanks for the 'mentorship and supportive advice' about my abilities.

Re: Sellers feedback

My advice isn't meant to insult you. We're human and as such, imperfect. And we've have all made mistakes, usually learning from those errors AFTER the fact. Since there's a learning curve on ebay my advice is given so you can prevent making mistakes in the first place.

I'm glad you are "finding customers," getting rid of older inventory and even your problem buyers haven't hit your feedback.

Best of luck on ebay.
