Hello, Because ebay screws sellers through their policies, I have a customer returning a new item that they used. It's an appliance part for a dryer. Because there are many parts that can go wrong on a dryer, you really need to diagnose the problem correctly for repair. Most people think that they can buy a part, plug it in, and everything should work. So now, I have a new item being returned to me that works, but because the buyer was dimwitted, I have no recourse. So my question, how do I sell the item as "brand new" after the customer used it, scared it, and returned it?

Thanks! Big help. I didn't know anything about those options.
I was doing pretty good until 30 percent of my timers are being called defective. I don't know of any new product where there is a 30 percent defective rate. Ebay could care less. It's really disappointing. I think it's why Etsy and facebook are eating their lunch.

No change- I just didn't look at the OPs profile to see that they're a newer seller.
While they're not eligible for the return shipping credit they could still get the 50% option if they change their listings to offer free returns. Somehow I doubt they'll want to do that, though.
A bigger issue than loss of shipping and a lower valued item for resale is going to be Service Metrics. With just 10 SNAD claims that will put the OP in jeopardy of increasing their fees by an extra 5%- that would be a pretty rough start to selling here.
@pythium- Maybe it's best to put the timers aside- since that's the item causing difficulties- until you build up your selling account more.

Thanks. Good advice. I will put the timers aside for when I have more interest in dealing with Ebay's **bleep**. I'm a little guy with 0 interest in becoming a top seller. There is no appeal to me for selling more. I don't have a product line or a manufacturing center.
I could sell WAY more on here, but I chose not to because Ebay is so difficult. Every 2 weeks I toss out 60 appliances to the junkyard. I would say 60 to 70 percent work. I could strip them for parts and sell them on ebay, but their seller unfriendly policies are a lot of hassle. The junkyard pays in cash with no fuss, and I don't have people on the forum trying to sink my comments.
