I've been dealing with this seller for quite some time now...many years now...about over it...He sells the same type items as me...He continually steals my listing pictures, titles, descriptions, WORD for WORD....doesnt even attempt to change anything or to hide it...I even use sticky notes on 99% of my listings to show they are mine...to detour others from copying...HE STILL DOES IT!
Didnt there used to be a place to report a seller for stealing/using your stuff??? I work hard on my listings, even tho some will say otherwise...Its just how I do them...But for him just to come in and grab my stuff as his own is not right in my book...plus he is a terrible seller with lousy reviews...not sure if I can post the sellers ID, so I will blank it out for now in the screenshots...
Also, I had just sold that item and edited the auction just this morning, to the new picture, also shown below. There has to be something against 'ebay policy' for what he is doing. He is ALSO using my stuff on at least 7-8 of his other listings...all my pictures, etc...I can get screenshots...there are PLENTY...lol

Sir: while one could attribute this plagiarism to simple rudeness, I think that it reflects the complete and utter collapse of boundaries that is the logical outcome of our collective immersion in the toxic world of social media. The boundaries between right and wrong, good and bad, truth and fiction have grown quite blurred. We see it in our politics, in our social currents, in the conduct of a growing number of our fellow Americans.
And of course eBay does not prohibit it. eBay wants to stay au courant. Never mind that eBay leadership all grew up on the internet.
As for the person copying your materials... remember what they say, imitation in the sincerest form of flattery.

Didnt there used to be a place to report a seller for stealing/using your stuff???
@humminbird-heaven
It is gone now. It is no longer a policy violation for another eBay member to do this.

There is nothing in policy against borrowing others photos or listing title or description.
There is nothing to report.
Have you tried adding the "seller" to your blocked buyer list.
I would think if he was on that list he could not see your listings since he cant buy them... ??

Thats some **bleep**...**bleep** people are lazy...What if my pictures are 'watermarked'???
NO accountability anymore...😑

Possible?...But, most sellers have multiple accts, so they have a 'buying acct' too, so its not too hard to bypass a block...'Borrowing'...is that what they call 'STEALING' these days...🤣

When were blocked buyers barred from looking at any listings for the sellers that blocked them?

What if my pictures are 'watermarked'???
There is a discussion from yesterday that speaks to this. You can 'watermark', apparently as eBay does not enforce their "picture policy". It is not that difficult to remove a watermark, and plenty of "photo thieves" don't care and use them anyway watermark and all.

When this first started, many eBay sellers became VERO members in hopes that eBay would act upon the photo/text stealers. Even though eBay has been telling sellers that are victims of VERO takedowns that "there is nothing they can do about a VERO takedown", eBay refused to act upon a VERO takedown request by an eBay seller for this activity. Now that most of this is run by bots, someone may want to try it again. This would especially be true if the actual photos stolen can be documented as YOUR work that appears on your own website or other venue on the net.
FWIW a blocked member can still see your listing, they just can't BUY it or bid.

Did I say they were OR that I would think they would be?
What would be the use of having a buyer blocked by a seller AND showing them what they cant buy?
Do YOU know for a fact that if a buyer is on a sellers BBL that they can see the listings?
05-25-2024 08:51 AM
Serious question – how is any of what the other Seller is doing harming you? He is saving a bit of time, yes. But that does not affect you. Right?
05-25-2024 08:53 AM
@humminbird-heaven since it is not against any eBay policy to use the photos you took it would be borrowing.
Stealing would only be if it was against policy.

Yes, we tested this very thing a while back during a discussion on blocking buyers.
Just as a demonstration, I've put you (@klhmdg) on my BBL. You're welcome to browse my listings, but I think you should find that you will not be able to buy any...

You don't own words.
Your pictures are ebay's to use and ebay's pictures are free to use by me and every other seller on ebay.
The only way to keep another seller from using your pictures is to not sell the same thing.
