I have a situation where the Seller appears to have blocked me in error. I believe this because I have had all positive feedback for her and from her. Now I can't contact her because this Seller does not answer questions. I called eBAY and they said the ONLY thing they can do is send a courtesy email which is 'generic'. I have no guarantee that she will even read that email. I see this as a bad policy by eBAY when it won't support the buyer who has a stellar record.

Well if you think she's not answering your messages because your messages are also blocked, and if it's driving you crazy that you can't find the answer to why she bocked you, and if you're losing so much sleep over it that you're starting to snore even while you're awake, then you could always ask an ebay buddy of yours to send her a message on your behalf. She might not appreciate it, but you never know.

Contacting the seller after they have indicated they don't want to do business with you could be viewed as harassment by your seller and they could report you to Ebay.
There are thousands of sellers here; no reason to fixate on one who has blocked you.
Best of luck with your future purchases!
A single simple communication is NOT harrassment. When you want something from someone else it is rarely a good idea to intimidate or be overly agressive. Sending a polite note to someone is not harrassment. Now if they kept sending them, then it would be a form of harrassment, but I don't think that was every suggested or implied.

No they are not auto banned from contacting you. You must have the block on communications set in your Site Preferences, under Buyer Requirements.
Thanks. Can you select which of your blocked buyers can contact you and which ones can't, or is it just a one or all option?

IMO a seller is very intentional when they block, thus not likely to make a mistake, and there really isn't a lot to type in there.
I realize that we are all human and can make mistakes; however, blocking someone is such a serious process, one would want to be very careful to be sure the one you want to block is blocked.
I can't speak for you, only myself. But people in general do make mistakes from time to time. It isn't impossible and it may happen more likely than we'd like to admit. But I can assure you it happens. Your failure to recognize that doesn't change anything. Other posters on this thread have described mistakes they have made with their own BBLs. They have no reason to come here and lie about it. Stuff happens. Even on or with things we want to be very careful with. Maybe it doesn't happen to you, but it does to many of us mere humans out here in the real world.

No, it is all or none.

From post 44:
For my my BBL inductees, the "block communication" box is also checked.
That give no information of where to find the block or whether it is by blocked buyer or a blanket setting. The other poster was simply stating that they do block communication on buyers they put on their BBL.

@iart wrote:I'm sorry if this comes off as cruel, but it's pretty hard to block someone by accident. Yes, they might have blocked you without realizing you had bought before but they probably blocked you for what they feel is a good reason. This reason can seem trivial to a buyer, even innocent, but might be a major peeve to the seller.
And, as far as I know, buyers are still able to message sellers who blocked them (they often write us using ask a question on another item). So if you sent messages and didn't hear back, that should be a very good clue.
Exactly, that was where I was coming from. While mistakes can be made, it really isn't a labor intensive process that requires a lot to be entered, thus the odds of it being correct should be high.
Message may be blocked in the communication block, but you have a point there; they may simply be ignoring it because what is there to say if they have decided to block?

No choosing! Equal opportunity blocking, LOL!
I don't even know what that means????
Sellers do choose, there is no other way for someone to get on the BBL.

Yes, I agree, mistakes can happen.
I do not run to my BBL all the time. Often I make a running list on a scratch paper. Sometimes noting the "why" they are considered for my list to think about it for a bit.
I have on occasion used an o for a 0, or some such error. (sometimes can not read my own scribbling)
The ID will show up as an error for that reason, but it is feasible that the mistyped ID could go in when there was matching ID for the typo.

Some just can't accept that a seller could actually make a simple honest mistake from time to time. I don't know why, but it seems to be true.

I was surprised when another poster implied that I'm a bad seller because of one simple mistake. I think it's amazing I don't make more mistakes considering the volume I handle.
Everybody has an opinion - some believe it's unforgivable if a seller makes a mistake. There's nothing you or I can do about that.
