Was a first time seller, so I had to wait until item was delivered to get my funds, certainly, I understand this. I used the eBay tracking label as a customer service rep said using that, as soon as the item was delivered, my funds would be released to me.
The day before I sold the item, a buyer won my auction and tried to scam me by messaging asking for personal details “so they could send payment” and when I refused, they cancelled their order. I ended up reposting and selling it the next day.
So, soon as my item was delivered, and funds made available, my account goes under performance review for 5 days. I called and talked with support, and because of this scammer and the legit sell both occurring within 24 hours on a high value item, this is why it’s “under review” instead of them looking at my support tickets to see that the first “purchase” wasn’t a purchase and was somebody trying to scam me(and btw their account is still up, and active) it will end up being 2 weeks between when I sold the item, and finally get my money.
Not to mention the outrageous fee taken from my sale, but TWO WEEKS? To get my funds. This is utterly ridiculous. I could see if I had tons and tons of sales to review, BUT I LITERALLY HAVE ONE. ONE. And my account will be under review for five days for this one legit sale.
Come on. To say this will be my first and only time using eBay to sell items, would be an understatement. Will be discouraging anybody I know from selling on this platform as well.

Yeah makes sense I guess. I cannot recall the reason I put on denying the cancellation, being new I was more irritated at somebody trying to scam me to be honest.
and yeah, I did call and was transferred around until getting to their “Review” department or something of the sort. But, your response sounds probably accurate as is the case with most company’s I guess. The whole situation from initially somebody trying to scam me, to waiting til item delivered(which I knew and was totally fine with) to then okay, it’s delivered yay, can finally get my funds. Funds made available and payout set to next day to BOOM account under review.
Just frustrating

Here's another eBay help page you can read/bookmark for future reference.
Especially where it says:
Any misuse of feedback is not allowed. Feedback comments should match the positive or negative rating that was given in both buyer and seller feedback. For example, a negative comment should not be left with a positive rating.
Follow-up or reply comments must also match the rating, and can't be used to change a rating.
You know, I don't want to cause any offense here, but you're a brand, new seller who has found themselves in a real jam. I think it would be a really good idea to spend some time reading the "instruction manual," as it were, for any site on which you are going to sell $600+ items, whether it's eBay or any other platform you choose. You say you read all about the fees, but you seem to have been blindsided by yours. You say you read all about holds on payouts, but you didn't seem to know proceeds could be held for up to 30 days. You don't seem to know sellers cannot leave negative comments for buyers.
I don't think you came into this deal prepared. Don't let that happen again on whatever venue you choose next time.

Feedback policy.
You can't leave negative comments in positive feedback.

I wasn’t blindsided on the fees, I knew this beforehand, but do I still think it’s absolutely ridiculous for them to take 12.9%? Uh. Yes.
and yes. I read about the holds and the POSSIBILITY of it being longer, however when their own support staff tells you that by using their shipping label, funds will be manually released even if a new seller once the item is delivered , you kinda tend to believe them. Shame on me🙄

Yeah well I suppose they should allow negative feedback for buyers when they’re scam artists eh?

Use to do such: they would just ditch the id, and get a new one....

The policy you violated is the one that says sellers are not allowed to give buyers negative FB. That includes positive (green dot) FB with negative wording. If/when that buyer reports that FB, the wording will be removed, the green dot will remain and you will have a defect on your account.

Feedback is a legacy from the infancy of the internet when it was exciting and scary to buy from strangers thousands of miles away, instead of how we get pizza delivered.
EBay does not use FB to assess member accounts, but does have rules about how it is used.
First, be aware that no one reads feedback.
They read the rating. The scammer doesn't care. Other sellers use Fixed Price, not Auction (another legacy) and don't meet the buyer until after the purchase.
The only one who reads feedback is your future customer, maybe, and she will be backbuttoning away from a seller who badmouths buyers.
There is a Resolution Centre for disputes and claims which has actual teeth.

The 'Payments On Hold' section doesn't explain what happens when a buyer disputes a "Package Not Received' when tracking shows it was delivered. It also doesn't explain what 'Funds On Hold' means when funds are 'Released' or released to who? It does say funds released if tracking show delivered which it does.
That's the case I'm having. I pay and print labels on eBay so there's tracking. I uploaded it also to the disputed open case also. Funds has since been released but to who? That's not clear.

The policy you violated was the one where eBay says sellers cannot ever give buyers negative FB.
That includes positive feedback with negative wording.
That buyer should have/could have contacted eBay about that FB, got it removed, the positive doughnut would have remained and you would have had a defect.
Too many defects on eBay and a seller can be removed. And, no, I don't know how many "too many" would be.

If that's the case you're having, you should start your own brand new thread about it instead of just posting at the end of someone else's thread. The OP's question has been asked and answered to his/her satisfaction.

A lot of new sellers who have not learned yet that the current eBay call in customer support is useless are also not aware that too many defects for the wrong reason will get their account suspended.

I have exactly the same situation - any excuse they can find to increase their income - they put our money in a holding account and after three days the interest starts accruing. What can we do? katedickson

eBay does NOT make interest on money held. It's Adyen the payment processor that hold funds, the money is in your ebay account thats where it is held, they don't make interest either. Please stop spreading false information.
Also this is a zombie thread. It will be locked soon , so if you want help. Please start your own thread.
Thank you.
