So I sold an engine on eBay over a month ago for 800 dollars. After fees, I got 630 dollars. After shipping the engine though UPS freight, it arrives in 3 days to the address the customer provided. He then contacts me telling me he never received it. We both check the tracking and it’s clearly signed for and delivered to the address he provided, but not signed by him.
He then files a payment dispute, and eBay refunds him his money and then tells me I have to pay it. So eBay then forces 820 dollars out of my bank account.
I never even received 820 dollars because eBay takes 13%. So now I’m out of an engine, forced to pay eBay back more money than I received, and I’m being forced to pay the shipping company to deliver my engine to some random person.
ebay refuses to help me. I’ve chatted with them online and in person several times and they say they cannot invoke the seller protection on me.
So I’m a loyal customer for 12 years and someone steals my engine clean across the county or just lies and says they never got it and it’s my problem???
Someone please help me. I don’t have the money to pay all this. The reason I sold the engine in the first place was because I needed money and now it’s killing me and no one will help. I have proof that it was delivered to the address and everything.

Sorry for your loss. You should have advertised it locally, cash only with customer pick-up. You said you sold it across the county or did you mean across the country? If it is across the county file a police report and get your engine back.

Really sorry for your loss. i do not see anything on your way since signature confirmation has not been obtained for items above 750 USD. You should have easily won the case by providing delivery information with the recipients signature. All the best

They said because I don’t upload the tracking info immediately and waited they couldn’t help me. But I did upload the info and messaged it to the customer there’s all sorts of proof.

Well I know now to never sell anything over 100 bucks on eBay I learned the hard way. I meant across the country. It’s like 10 states away somewhere.

20 fee means it was a chargeback through their credit card. For eBay to fight it you needed tracking uploaded the day you shipped it showing it was shipped within your handling time and tracking details showed signature delivery was added. They weren't there were they? Putting them in the reply is too late. The buyer is the credit card customer so who do you think the card co favors? They don't care about you. You're not their customer. They want their custoner to keep using their card. They probably don't even look at replies.

Here’s the tracking proof.

Whew, ahh yeah car engines go missing all the time...wow. I would go online and file a police report with that local NJ city. Then I would reach out to ebay on Facebook and sorry I just don't have that link handy, ebay for business I believe.
Do you have the serial number of your engine? Look on the car it came from if you don't know it.
This charge back scheme is all over the internet as a way " to get stuff free on ebay" or other e- commerce sites.
You may even look into small claims court, you can sue for not only that cost of your transaction but travel, time and other expenses and you can file this online as well.
Several things to chew on and normally I wouldn't go to great lengths but this is a car engine and somebody's got it and my guess it's your buyer in NJ.
Good luck to you.

Have you checked with UPS? Hard to believe UPS would let anyone sign for a package. If anything I think your real problem is with UPS. Delivery confirmation w/ signature acceptance should be simple. If an item is delivered with the need for Mr. x to sign I don't know why they let Mr. or Mrs. y sign. Again, sounds like a UPS dispute. Also, seems like your last option is a UPS dispute. Good luck and sorry this happened.

Here is the link that Silver is referencing

BEFORE you message on e-Bay Seller CS on Facebook, go to the transaction view for this transaction and make certain the "tracking" is there. Next report your Buyer for potential FRAUD and indicate that you have proof of delivery of this engine.
Good luck to you. Let us know how it turns out.

UPS refused to help because they use TForce freight to ship their freight items. They are a 3rd party company and they said that it’s delivered where it should be.

they said because I don’t upload the tracking info immediately and waited they couldn’t help me.
Yep, if you don't upload the tracking within the time specified......you lose. Hard lesson......

I’m confused where is there that it states you don’t get your money protected if you don’t upload tracking within 5 minutes of shipping???

In this case. I think that you have to deal with responsible shipping service. There are no issue if you have responsible shipping service. Do you have responsible shipping service?

Contact your shipping service and tell your problem. They can help you to resolve your issue. Thank you
