Scam account?

I have an expensive item listed and I think I have a scam account that sent me an offer for my full asking price, which is strange. They have feedback of 1 and I can’t see the 1 feedback comment.  In the message it says to check their profile picture for their email or phone number and to send them a video of the item for their reassurance before making payment. It does say the account is 6 yrs old. I can’t block them or anything.  My account is 20 years old with a ton of feedback over the years. Advice?

Thanks for the help. I was able to block the acct.

Decline or ignore the offer.

Block them, and run like the wind.

DO NOT REPLY TO THEM

They want to set you up to be scammed with a fake payment message once they get your contact info.

buyselljack2016 already provided good advice. The only other thing I would add is always go by the #1 rule as a seller on eBay. Never list anything you are not prepared to take the financial loss on. Scammers are everywhere and in this case you probably identified one early. You may not be as lucky next time. Low or no feedback buyers are not a good measure of whether they are a scammer or not.

That is an old scam. That first step of getting you to an accept an offer for the same price that they could simply pay up front is so that they can lure you into revealing off-Ebay contact info for yourself (such as by sending them a video) that they can then use to send you fake payment notifications that Ebay cannot see. They put their own offsite contact info in an image for you to look at so that Ebay cannot detect that either. Just add them to your Blocked Bidder List and ignore them (except you could report their message as Ebay will recognize the scam text).

SCAM!!

 Offer for full asking price.

Demanding what is not in the offer (video).

Giving email and phone number in photo.

Sounds like a hijacked account.

Ignore the offer.

Block the account.

Report the account to the eBay employees assigned to social media.

They try to get your email address to send you a fake you have been paid message,  in hopes you will send out merchandise that was never paid for.   Most of the time they target new sellers. During the busy holidays, they hope they can sneak one through with high feedback sellers too.   A very old but effective scam.

Hi buckskin-horse-lady,

To access your Blocked Buyers List go to your seller's hub and, on the left side of the page, there's a box titled Shortcuts.  You'll see it there.
