Sales

Good Morning, does anybody else find this a bit strange. The last 4 months our sales have been good, until the last 5 days of the month, then nothing, no sales, views almost non existent, this month I called and asked to refresh my account, I was told a note had been sent to IT to refresh, next day still no improvement. I filled out the survey they ask to be filled out, on the survey I stated that my problem had not been resolved. I called again the second day of no sales, asking to be refreshed again, again I was told they would send the request to IT.  After posting on here(which is gone now), I had enough sales to pay my month ending bill, all in one day, now 2 days later, still lack of views and no sales. Could it be ebay or agents are nolding my account hostage? I've been with ebay since 1998, and I know this sounds highly unlikely, but it has happened 4 months in a row now. Have a great day and answers or opinions greatly appreciated.

Agree there’s a lot of financial stress out there and yes, many are watching every dollar, but riddle me this … why are other platforms doing just fine? No huge glitches, no big dips in sales, no everyday chaos like eBay? 🤔

Ebay by far has always been my favorite platform, but IMHO, there’s a lot more going on here than “economics”.

Completely understand your concern/confusion over the slow/no sales. Wish I had answers for you, but I’m experiencing the same issue. Things just stopped about a week ago with an average of only 1 sale a day now and as of yet, no sales today.

This is typically my season, selling denim. People are going to come in and say all the usual, it’s the beginning of the month, economy, yada yada yada. Ask if you’re doing “all the things”? Yes, of course, but with all the horrible, continuous glitches? I’m going to respectfully disagree with all the “usual” as this ISN'T usual.

Calling CS for them to “refresh” your store or reporting to IT? Not a thing. It’s a myth or something CS made up. There’s no magic button. If there was, I would’ve pushed it a LONG time ago and admittedly, probably abused any such function. 😂

Hope things get better for you soon!!

I personally feel people are stressed financially.   They were waiting for pay day…the government shut down which put a ton of people with no income. There is a lot of serious stuff going on and people are being cautious  Military NO PAY.  That in itself is over 2,000,000.   People. Tons of civil service..just do a search and see how many are worried.

Re: Sales

@kickin.assets  How do you know other platforms are doing okay…Also some of those places may appeal to a different customer who isn’t affected by loss of income as much as eBay. All I know is I had a couple of days like you did myself.

Re: Sales

@frugalmarketplace

Let me rephrase that … “I” haven’t noticed the extreme highs and lows on the other platforms that “I” sell on. Ebay for me seems like a real roller coaster and about the time you think all is good and back to “normal”, nope, then sales just stop.

Of course, this definitely may differ for others and where/what they sell and when. I should’ve worded that better and should not assume it’s the same for everyone. I know better than that. Sorry. My bad. 😞

Don’t waste your time with a refresh. It does nothing. Honestly I believe eBay just says that to get you to believe they are doing some holy mumbo jumbo and magically you will have more sales.

Re: Sales

It DID kinda sound neat, though...

I'd probably be placated for a bit.

I wanna be refreshed!

Re: Sales

@kickin.assets   I know the feeling as there are ups and downs, and I get concerned. I would not be your customer as you sell jeans and I don’t wear them. So see there are many people like me that would not be looking for them.  If I am correct that is a much younger crowd that buys those…so many be they had less  money or didn’t need any. Who knows, if I had a crystal ball I would be rich.

Compare your sales ($) month to month.
I bet it's really consistent.
Maybe to point of being almost "too" consistent?

Re: Sales

all I can add is competition is rough, if another seller is out pricing you, you wont get any sales or very little until they run out of stock

buyers will take a .01 cent better deal if given the opportunity

also if you are not listing new merchandise your click-thru rate will plummet

If you do not have a lot of listings you can end them all and relist, this cost's you whatever fee's but that is the only "refresh" you can do, note that any worm/web crawl data is then gone, this may also erase any saves or Favorited links .

Then I wont say all that, Ill just say that Ebay has always been cyclical.

Re: Sales

It could be all the recent updates they have been doing. Every time they do an update things always get bad. I'm obviously in some beta test groups that takes the brunt of their obsessions of constantly changing the site. When they recently updated promoted listings my pls views went to a quarter of what they were. My awaiting shipment tasks has shown 9 items waiting to ship on the mobile app. Tasks in my selling on desktop hasn't loaded in months. Shipping fees on some items completely disappeared. Every day since the August update pictures don't load and show. Ill get watchers on items but it takes eBay 4 hours minimum for it to show up in send offers and then when I do send an offer to buyer it goes to a blank screen and never gets sent. I've seen more tech issues this year than all 14 years together. Views on items are completely unreliable, had an item that showed 12 views and after downloading the report it showed that item has 2 views. It is what it is.
