How are sales going for everyone this December? Is it as good, better, or worse?

Well if it it better than it was do you think it will ever be as good as it use to be, or perhaps not as good as it can be?

@jeopricville

Well in fairness my best months were right after the COVID stay at home restrictions were imposed. I sell, among other things, jigsaw puzzles. In a 3 month period I was inundated with orders to the point in about 10 weeks I sold what I would normally sell in a year . So, no, I doubt I will ever get there again.

On the other hand, setting aside that one unusual moment, I can say my sales are about 50% of what they were about 4 years ago. While there are those who blame it all on eBay I blame it all on in Jimmy 2.0.

However, Oct Nov and Dec of this year were each significantly improved over Sept Oct and Nov of this year. Now that the adults are back in charge ( OMG listen to all those knees jerking - WOW) I do believe that the next 4 years will be at least an approximation of that prior era. (Ronald Reagan vis-a-vis Jimmy Carter redux).

The big advantage is that due to the higher prices due to inflation I do not need to sell as many units to have the same dollar volume.

Why do you think I have added the following tag line?

I can not teach anybody anything
I can only make them think

30 more, precisely.

Re: Sales

Happy Birthday!!! I'm singing for you 🙂

My sales have been very good this month, particularly compared to November. It's looking like the year is going to end right where I expected. Would love every month to be like this one.

Re: Sales

Here's a very weird question, but do you ever still feel like you have yet to grow up? I don't mean Peter Pan-esque nostalgia about childhood joys and wonders, but more the opposite, like where challenges make you feel like you are still helpless as a child is?   For me sometimes people with greater power and authority can make me feel like that, even if they are younger than me (like a boss at a job, which is definitely part of why I prefer self-employment).  Or even just having responsibilities.

Like here was a poignant memory: I waited until I was 31 to be a mother, and I was absolutely ready, not only in terms of being married and financially secure, but even baby care (although I'd had no major experience with babies, I had worked in geriatric nursing, so this was very similar but 150+/- pounds lighter).  And although I'd previously found interactions with children rather awkward, I knew this one, and although her development seemed really fast in some ways, it was slow enough to grow and adapt with her.  But one night when she was about 8, I got up to go to the bathroom and as I passed her bedroom door, I had that familiar, daily, vague pang of concern about her well-being.  And for just a split second I thought, "but how can I be responsible for a kid, when I'M just a kid?"  -when really I pushing 40.  😆

Re: Sales

That's funny that you mention that feeling about when you passed her bedroom door and thinking of her well being. I'm 66 and because my son married an older woman, I have step grandkids in their 20s and 30, and one of them made me a great grandma. I was thinking back to when I had my son and about how naive I actually was. Babies are just lovely, but the thought that you are responsible for this entire human being is very daunting to me now. It takes courage to become a parent!

Re: Sales

Better than expected, since I literally am missing half of my store atm (intentionally). I knew this year was going to be off because we gutted our home this year, rebuilt it and moved back into it. So my store was closed for the majority of 6 months, with breaks in between of being open so we could keep it closed for 30 day intervals (if that makes any sense).

I'm not complaining.  I hope your sales are doing well!

Re: Sales

@gurlcat Actually, I just mostly wish I still had the joints I had when I was a child. Fewer random aches and pains would be nice LOL
